Trade Deadline always sees price increases. Myers at 3M is a completely different beast than Myers at 6M. Toronto has enough money to pay his bonus without issue.

If Leafs are willing to put their 1st on the line for Myers, then they might as well trade it for McCabe at 3m. The only reason for Toronto to take Myers is that the cost of acquisition would be low. The cap hit has to be 2-3m for the Leafs to be giving stuff up, but still cheap. 3.5-4m they might take him but Vancouver would have to be giving them a sweetener to do so.

You didn't understand. Toronto isn't going to get to the 2nd Round, there's no 1st rounder being added. It's entirely the 2nd + c-tier prospect + 5th for Myers 50% + 6th.
