Dubie Go Big Its Doable - YR3

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Buying out MM made TIMO possible for 2023-24, but this is where **** hits the fan. I've signed everyone just to get an idea of the cap situation.

Even with team-friendly deals, signing TIMO + keeping the core will create AT LEAST $5 million cap suprlus on a $87MM cap. Maybe one or both of AM / WN bolt, and will have to be replaced with cheaper FA options.

Don't think you can buy out Murray, need to give up Kampf and probably sign Samsonov for 3.8ish and Meier for around 7.8 in y1.

Also, need to extend Sandin and Liljegren asap for like 3.45m ea for 2 years, and move off of Brodie. The 6th and 7th D will have to be 775K-900 as well as most of the bottom 6.

I don’t see Meier taking 7.8m and certainly not when nylander is getting 9. Meier is easily worth 8.5 aav as a discount

8.5m is what he's worth at most imo, he wants 9m+. Reason I say that is his career/last 3-years point production is slightly lower than Fiala's. He's a PWF and a more reliable goal scorer, so I do think he could easily get more. Goal scoring wise he's comparable to Horvat, lower careerwise, think slightly lower in the last 3-years. Horvat is only making 8.5m.

He said he would be willing to take a discount with a contender, so I think that's 8mx8. If he wants to stay in Toronto it's likely going to have to be 7.8-7.9 (exact number is closer to Fiala's 7.875).

Meier's would be resigned before Nylander mostly likely if they do decide to sign him. Although, in all likelihood they probably don't keep both.

Ah yes, nylander is the year after. The only issue I see with the trade is the 25’ pick, it’s too far down the road for a team looking to rebuild quick around the guys they are keeping. I think it’s Knies instead which might be the deal breaker for TOR

Yeah, thing is if they get Meier, they probably aren't getting Kane too. So, maybe the Leafs do part with Knies and a 1st (maybe a future one) if that's all it cost. I would imagine they would be willing to throw in Woll/Kallgren a trade.

If Knies is off the table-I think he should be because if they want to resign Meier and Nylander after they will need his ELC-, I think the Leafs best offer would be 2023 1st+Niemela+Robertson+ Woll. Might need to add something else depending on how the Sharks view Robertson and his injuries (they can be avoided if he plays more like Nylander in the corners). I do believe that NJ would likely do beat that offer, and I am expecting them to beat any offer the Leafs are willing to do.

    That’s not a bad offer.
