@Db1899 I know it's insane to trade Dobson for Chychrun and I detest the Isles fans wanting to trade Dobson lol. But would you do this trade? I'm very high on Maccelli and Söderström could still be a good top-4 defenseman.

Trading Dobson is counterproductive and Arizona is looking for futures not current core pieces

Noah Dobson just turned 23 lol. Isn't that a player to build around for the future? He'll be one of the best defensemen in the league for 10+ years. Robin Salo is also a solid, young defenseman who should play in the NHL right now, Isles LD is just a logjam at the moment.

ARI laughs at your face... Remove 'Maccelli' and 'Söderström' and they might. But still would like the 3rd to be a 2nd.
Also why trade 'Dobson' that seems counter productive? Bailey doesn't have value at this point and is only a cap dump.

I'm not sure they would "laugh at 'my' face". Noah Dobson just turned 23 years old (January 7th), he's an RD and already one of the best defensemen in the league by all credible analytics data. Josh Bailey is a cap dump for sure, but he's only making 3.5M next season in his final contract year. Robin Salo (I could see him having a similar contribution as Juuso Välimäki for them) should play in the NHL by now for sure. Victor Söderström could be a top-4 defenseman, but it's not a sure thing, Jakob Chychrun has never even played 70 games and is an LD. Matias Maccelli has had a good year so far in 30-ish games, but far from a sure thing, I don't think it's as far off as you imply.

I think you need to remove 'Maccelli' at least from this deal.
And still I would rather get to make it as a future d unit with Chychrun and Dobs. Don't really see the point for either team to trade young ish d men like this.
ARI want's 1st round picks and younger roster players for him, they been (overvaluing him for sure) very consistent with sticking to their demand. (so far)

I don't think Isles would ever do this if Maccelli wasn't included. Dobson is younger, an RD, and is better than Chychrun... And remember, Maccelli is very much a gamble for Isles, he may just be a 3rd-liner.

First off, the '23 3rd already belongs to Zona

And then...

Zona doesn't do Chych for Dobson regardless of games played. Chych drives possession and produces more goals than Dob, who is a giveaway machine and plays 2 mins less per game.

Chych is a +8 on a -50 team and Dobson a -5 who is worse 5v5 and starts in the OZ almost more than any other defensemen

Chychrun is a top 4 dman in the league by cap and top 6 overall.

lol imagine allowing someone else to do your analysis for you and waving it around as any sort of concrete proof

expected goals for is a joke of a stat, esp used on defensemen LOL

Chychrun is 24 lol. You also overrate Dobson, he will be a solid defenseman but probably not one of the best. Like Morgan Rielly caliber

You're clueless, I can tell based on you using +- as an important player evaluation stat lol.

He will turn 25 in March, 2 years older than Dobson, which is important for Coyotes future window, AND Dobson is better + an RD. You completely disregard the analytics and evaluate based on your gut-feelings lol.

Evolving-hockey/Wild is THE most credible analytics site out there LOL. My own analysis would be BIASED, therefore I refer to people who has the data and is smarter than myself.

Lol what are you on? Dobson is a defensive liability based on analytics, Chychrun is quite substantially better. vxAmIWv.png

Yes but I think ARI would take offer more inline with what they set out to get back.

credible for what exact reason? what metrics do they use to evaluate exactly?

+/- is valuable adjusted for empty net goals since it's a 5v5 stat and Chych is a 5v5 monster

Chych > Dobson as a defensemen

Chychrun has played 36 games this year, Dobson 52, you have to go by a 3-year sample size, and once again, Dobson is 2 years younger and an RD.

It's interesting that you posted a comparison between the two this year, but completely ignored the picture I posted when Dobson had 90 overall last season lol.

Evolving hockey is a very reliable site for analytics. They remove all empty net points for 5v5 stats as well by default.

The graph he posted is quite outdated though, the ones I posted above are for this year

You are literally making your argument look worse by asking for 3 years lmao

And just in case you want to keep arguing the age here was Chychrun's 20, 21, and 22 seasons
