Yes but I think ARI would take offer more inline with what they set out to get back.

Dobson would be THE best offer they could ever imagine, how can you not agree with this? smile

You are literally making your argument look worse by asking for 3 years lmao

And just in case you want to keep arguing the age here was Chychrun's 20, 21, and 22 seasons

I don't think so at all, Dobson played with the two worst defensemen in the league the two last season (Greene and Chára) against tougher competition. AND is two years younger, once again. His last year playing with Chára and still ranked as 90% better than all defensemen in the league is indicative of his future.

Depends what you are looking for, WAR/GAR, RAPM, basic points, Corsi, etc

THATS an answer!

No which one applies to which positions for you and why?

I don't like the 'Maccelli' going back to ARI. To me that makes ARI the losers in a deal they don't have to do. Take out Bailey and put Wahlstrom in there instead at least. By the way seems like he is traded soon.
So we will see where smile

looooooool Chych plays top line mins as his TOI > Dobson

Playing with Gostisbehere/Hjalmarsson/Välimäki is a lot different than playing with Boychuk/Greene/Chára/Romanov, all 4 of them has been catastrophic.

You don't understand the graph if you think it says he was better than 90% of defensemen. That number is not a comparison to other defense, it his his Wins Above Replacement percentage based on their standard model. Lets take Timothy Liljegren for example. He had a solid year last year but would you say he is better or even close to Dobson's level?
UikOFuC.png

No because generally speaking he played more protected minutes but played very well in them

Maybe if it was just Chychrun for Dobson+a 1st or something like that then that's something Arizona would be interested in. They aren't looking to make a hockey trade so in hindsight, it should look like a lopsided deal that's in their favor if things work out for them, and the worst case should be that it was a wash.

I don't think NYI should be doing this at all though.

Db1899 I know it's insane to trade Dobson for Chychrun and I detest the Isles fans wanting to trade Dobson lol. But would you do this trade? I'm very high on Maccelli and Söderström could still be a good top-4 defenseman.

I wouldn’t even consider it. Chychrun isn’t anything special and he’s made of glass

Adding Wahlstrom and Dobson both in a trade and not getting a star player back would go down as one of the worst trades in isles history.

Can’t see Wahlstrom being traded after he suffered the season ending injury, but who knows

Giving up Marcelli, Chychrun and Söderström and getting Dobs, Bailey and Salo and a 3rd doesn't really do it for ARI either. Seems to me them being the one giving up the best pieces here.

I never said Arizona should do it, but this would be a braindead trade for the isles because Chychrun is a LD which the isles don’t need and he’s always injured. Soderstrom will likely be a 3rd pair D . Macelli is good but if the isles were trading Dobson they could do better than this. The only reason Arizona won’t do this is because they’re looking at a 5 year rebuild and the main piece of the trade should be a prospect in the 19-20 range
