Mayfield is a bottom pairing dman on a contender, maybe a top 4 if hes paired with a guy like Hedman or something. How is he worth a 1st?

      Is this your first deadline?

Big, bottom pair Dman who can play in the top 4 with the right partner. He checks every box to get that return (see Chiarot and Savard trades for recent examples).

Parise is a 3rd liner, regularly PKs and can play netfront on a PP. Very versatile player and would be a benefit to any championship aspiring team. If you're questioning value, the Isles could get a 3rd from him pretty easily

You literally made an ACGM that sent Mayfield and a 3rd to the Leafs for a 1st and Holl. Holl isn't worth a 3rd so you've pretty much confirmed my value for Mayfield lol

Yeah we’re all set in bottom 6. Gonna get even more clogged after a top 6 move forces Jarvis or turbo to third line.

It was a 1st for next year and I was being generous so people on here wouldn't call me biased, also if Mayfield is worth a 1st then Holl is most definitely worth a 3rd lol.

Because Karlsson, Gavrikov, Gostisbhere and Chychrun werent available those years? I dont know why people think that trades in previous years are an exact comparable.

Dubas already said no 1sts for rentals. Plus Mayfield is not worth a 1st, especially in this draft.

Calgary has zero reason to do that, they are at no shortage of cap space

Buddy if anything Karlsson and Ghost were more available last season than this one. Chychrun was also on the block last season. That was also the season where Lindholm and Manson were traded at the deadline. One is on the best team in the NHL this season (and is at worst their second best dman) while the other helped his team to a cup.

Coaching has been abysmal. Lambert has no spine and is nothing more than Lou's company man. How Trotz shielded this man for two decades is the most impressive thing about him. This **** doesn't happen under Barry

You do realize the isles were worse last season right? Lane isn’t a good coach but Trotz was worse last year. The sad thing is Lane is pretty much Trotz 2.0 - same lineup decisions and loyalty to underperforming vets

The truth is this team needed a full rebuild and instead Lou mortgaged the future to save his job. Maybe the isles will be competitive by year 7 or 8 of horvats contract when he’s on the 4th line

The one thing I'll give Lambert is he has the shortest leash to Bailey that I can remember. He has been scratched or benched more than any regular forward this year.

I get you aren't a Trotz guy, but won't you cut him a tiny bit of slack? He had to open up on an unprecedented 13 game road trip and forced to play guinea pig to the league with a covid ridden AHL lineup. If anyone deserved a pass on last year, it was him. I'd also argue he ended up doing more with less compared to what Lane has now.

I'm not sure how old you are but I can almost guarantee the best years of your Isles fandom have been under Trotz. I would bring him back in a nanosecond

Yet Bailey still starts on the 1st line and gets top 6 ice time. If lane was serious about winning he would permanently scratch him.

The road trip /Covid is just an excuse to cover up for the fact that this roster is cooked. Trotz gave chara top 4 ice time and treated Bailey like a core player. My point is that the isles would be in the same position this season under Trotz, the team just doesn’t have the talent , too many players regressed /weren’t replaced. Those ECF teams had way more skill and players in their primes. Trotz was riding the aging curves of the isles best players (pelech, Pulock, Toews , barzal, eberle , Beau, Nelson)
