Meier for Nemec and a 1st Landing Bedard and Signing Pastrnak

Created by: CheechYou
Team: 2023-24 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 15, 2023
Published: Feb. 15, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Shipping out Meier by the deadline plummets SJ's position in the standings to around the bottom-3 by season's end. Pasta follows both the money and the incentive to play with a young core in Eklund, Bedard, Nemec, and Bordeleau while also playing alongside good friend and fellow countryman Hertl.

The NJD one isn't that far off. Maybe not a first on top.

I wouldn't be so sure even though too many on this site have presumed it a given that neither Nemec or Mercer will be traded.

Not sure why you state this so confidently as if I'm suggesting something ludicrous. Bonino for a mid-round pick has been an often cited trade proposal even on this site. Like I mentioned specifically in the proposal, to any team, even though BOS's among those interested. It's all but a guarantee that Bonino'll be traded to a playoff team in the next few weeks for the equivalent of a mid-rounder as Megna was. Feel free to disagree on Labanc's tradability but you can call that out specifically instead of brushing off a Bonino/mid-rounder trade as unreasonable.

Luke Hughes and Simon Nemec as per James Nichols yesterday….” I’m told both Luke Hughes and Simon Nemec are absolutely off the table in any trade talks. Non-starter.” Can we please stop with this. You’re not getting them, nobody is.

If you wanna talk Holtz, Gritsyuk, Mukhmadullin, or Casey the phone lines are open. If not, thanks but no thanks.

not that the meier deal is far off, just think Nemec is a non starter. Labanc is on the 4 th line or H/S for below replacement players
and while Bonino is a good depth player, i just don’t think i see him garnering more than a 4th

that’s reasonable, and I agree with you, add Mercer to the off the table list. and 23 1st Holtz and Mukh or walsh and a 3rd seems reasonable for both sides

yea Bedard chances were gone before the season started. NHL will Rigg the draft so Bedard goes to Montreal or Chicago.

I’ll go with that deal, honestly. I just can’t stand this Hughes, Nemec, Mercer nonsense anymore. If that’s seriously the ask we’d walk away. It makes no sense for us to move any of those guys.

Sure. But zero need to brush off the trade proposal here as an “actually every team says no” if you think Bonino goes for a 4th but suddenly draw an absolute line at a 3rd — that’s kind of ridiculous. The difference is negligible, especially as far as ACGMs go, and doesn’t warrant that kind of response.

Meier and Cat are distinctly different players. Timo is a very powerful power forward, he's more productive over the last 18 months and he's arguably a higher impact player. Nemec is good but he is oh so overrated on this site.

Depends how bad NJ want Timo. And if there is a bidding war already afoot then it's very feasible. Friedman said NJ wants the last shot at Timo, so they mean business.

He also has a 10 million QO, whereas debrincat was under contract and had 2 rfa years left

We're also talking about value at the time of the trade. Debrincat was coming off a 41 goal season

Homer much? DeBrincat 2 40 goal seasons, Meier 0. Career scoring average DeBrincat .84 ppg, Meier .7 ppg.
So how exactly is he a higher impact player?

For the love of god we don’t care what bidding war happens. If it comes to Luke Hughes, Simon Nemec, or Dawson Mercer we are OUT, we won’t nothing to do with this. Our front office has been clear, we will give up assets but not mortgage the future. Holtz, Gritsyuk, Mukhmadullin, and Casey are available. Don’t like the options, we don’t care! Good luck elsewhere.

Those are your best prospects they better be off the table. For BOS tho, Pastranak looks like a deal will get done, so I don’t think you Devils get Pasta

I would be sure. Meier is worth a 1st and some stuff. Not the 2nd overall pick from last yr. Never going to happen. Look at every deal Fitz has made, asset wise he's been better, he won't stop now. In fact he probably won't do the deal period, we'll all be mad and he'll do something that ends up being better. Yeah we want TM but even your own fanbase knows this won't be the return
