Don't think I would do that 1st trade. Decent player but getting older fast.

Why are Buffalo fans so hard set on moving Olofsson? Wouldn't you want to try and keep somebody who is on pace to score 30 goals?

Why would Sabres be taking that Couture contract and basically taking a risk that player in his 33-37yrs old seasons will be worth 8mil ?

Nashville probably passes. Olofsson doesn't fit under our scheme nor is he really the piece we need.

If Buffalo wants to bring in an aging, expensive veteran than they should just take Karlsson.

He would be cheap if you take his whole cap hit and would also make for a ridiculously fun team to watch with that defense

I would think Nashville would pass here. Nino is a more well rounded player that fits our scheme. The scheme might be changing though…

He's been better this year but his game was pure scoring and nothing else in past. buffalo has a good stock of goal scorers and prospective goal scores. We need more all around contributors especially in the physical areas of the game. Veterans to mentor the younger guys would be nice too. so olofsson becomes a nice trade assett. Hoping a team that has good all around guys would trade one for a goal scorer. Its not really dumping him like most trades in acgm.

I think Couture at $2M retention is still a valuable asset even with a 4 year contract. In his age 37 season, he's still likely to be playing at a decent level.

No long injury history and play has been stable.

Perhaps but do you want to retain if you end up say buying our vlasic and retaining on karlsson?

No I don't think Couture should be traded (and I don't think he wants to be), but those acting like his contract is an albatross are misguided. With a little retention he becomes an attractive 2C option.

Again, alot of dead cap considering Karlsson and vlasic situations

I would say a Karlsson trade is unlikely at this deadline. If he were to be traded this offseason, I think the Sharks aim to retain around $3M.

That means we'll have around $8-9M in dead cap between Burns, Karlsson, and Jones. In a rebuilding phase I don't think that hurts too much.

No reason to buy out Vlasic. He'll probably play out his contract (only 3 more seasons).

If you want to take on Couture's entire contract, I think that's a mistake for Buffalo and doesn't do much for San Jose. Even 2 2nd rounders or a late 1st would be worth the dead cap.

Outstanding question. There's not really a good reason in my opinion.

That's if they have to retain any money, I would think if you take him at full value you're looking at a 1st and prospect but if they have to retain anything it becomes another first and piece on top of it.

Don't think Buffalo is in a place quite yet to pay that price, just think he'd be a better option that Couture

Because the other team scores more than he does when he's on the ice.
