OTT
In case anyone misses the reference here, it’s from the Summer 2016 trade between Edmonton and New Jersey. News first broke that morning about a deal sending Taylor Hall to NJ for a return that included young RD, Adam Larsson. The hockey world spent a day speculating what other picks, prospects, players would be included in the deal back to Edmonton. Until Bob McKenzie tweeted, “Trade is one for one: Adam Larsson for Taylor Hall”.

Marino has been one of the better defenders for us this year, plus hes signed to a team friendly deal. Theres no way we trade him

And if you all do, it’ll be for a higher caliber of player (I.e. DeBrincat).

I think that's relatively fair for both sides as far as hockey trades go but objective value favours NJD.
Batherson had a 3.0 WAR last season and 1.9 WAR this season being mostly centred by a 20 point rookie.
Marino had a bounce back season and is at 1.6 this year in a good defensive system but was 0.7 last season.

Only makes sense if NJD feel they can resign Severson to stop gap until Nemec is a top 4.
Only makes sense for Ottawa if they want to go for it this season. Would be better as an offseason trade next year.

Idk if I’d do it tbh. I’d prefer someone like Rasmus Andersson if I ever move Bath

Marino has been great. I am perfectly happy with him. Just trying to break up all the Meier-to-NJD deals.

Marino 4 years at 5.8% of cap.
Larsson 5 years at 5.4% of cap.

Hall 67 pts in last 82.
Batherson 70 pts in last 82.

Just an idea since extending Graves and Severson is an option for us.

    I should have mentioned…It’s a summer 2023 trade.

You're undervaluing Batherson and overvaluing Marino.

Hall for Larsson was one of the biggest steals of recent times. Hall went on to be an MVP.
I think the trade makes sense for both sides but I think Ottawa needs more objective value wise.

Hall/Larsson vs Batherson/Marino is an apples and oranges comparison.

With that said, if Pierre Dorion thinks Batherson is going to be cancelled from the Hockey Canada scandal, he'll definitely make this trade.

Sounded like everyone was cleared, no? I haven’t followed closely, but last I read was saying no charges.

Bathserson is worth significantly more than marino, OTT passes, Dorion may be an idiot but he is not Chiarelli

"According to documents filed in court, police now say they have reasonable grounds to believe five junior hockey players sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman at the hotel."

""This remains an open and active investigation".

This was from an CBC article from last week.
