Weegar idea

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is a 3 way trade where Arizona takes on some of weegar's contract for picks. This trade is an Idea to a potential trade where weegar goes to Ottawa. The values of each individual player are not what is important but the Idea of having a third team to take on some cap is what I focused on. So you can say the trades are unfair I don't really care its the concept that matters.

With this idea OTT would have around 500k in cap space if Arizona took 2M.

Im not sure if its a possibility but I was thinking that they could only keep some cap for 3 years not 8

Tough to get a read on Calgary. They are in an absolutely terrible position. Getting older and having less cap room with the huberdeau contract kicking in. They almost have to go all in, yet aren't good enough to get it done. I'd be curious if hanifin or tanev could be had. I'm doubtful but their contracts are more affordable for other teams.

No team is going to take on 2 million in cap for the following 7 years for a 2nd round and fourth round pick. Arizona would want massive value back and even then, I don't think they would do it.

The idea of Weegar on the back end for Ottawa would vastly improve their D core though.

was wondering if a team could retain Salary not for the full length of the contract but for a set amount of time. like 3 years instead of 8

1. Calgary should accept, given their cap situation and their surplus of NHL quality defencemen.

2. Arizona is not retaining on a single contract until the 2030s.

3. Anaheim declines because they are not getting enough value for having Zaitsev dumped on them.

3. Really? a second round pick for 1 year of zaistev while they tank isn't good enough?

It's all or nothing. Have to retain on the whole contract.

He can not be traded to 10 different teams and he has a cap hit of 4.5 million.

And the 2nd round pick is for 2025.

Not really worth it for Anaheim.

Sadly I believe this is not possible, would make trading a lot easier though ...
