Best Summer Ever!.....

Description
Never gonna happen but I think this would be a very exciting summer except for the draft where we loose nearly all of our picks! Only bringing Iggy back for the fact that I think this team could go on a run and putting him on the 3rd line would work. I know every Wild fan will say its not enough for Nino but nobody is giving up 5 1st round picks and 10 prospects for him... Give me a break. They are in cap hell and I think it is a fair package.

I know this team will never happen but if it did I do believe it could contend for the Presidents Trophy and the Stanley Cup. Looked at projected stats for each player without going crazy and the year end GF/GA and could be a +72 team.

Stats are for goals as follows based on lines above.

        25-34-27
        25-20-15
        15-8-18
        3-10-7

        15-17
        8-13
        3-3

        Goalie stats as follows

Schneider 65 Starts (based on last 7 years...) .924 save % and 2.35 GAA facing last years average in Calgary of 28.7 Shots per game
Raanta 17 Starts .918 save % and 2.35 GAA with the same as above

        Goals for 254
        Goals against 182

        +72

Schneider won't move. The Devils do not have a good enough replacement to justify it. I think you were better off aiming for Fleury.

New Jersey finished last in their division and got a 1st overall pick. They should be in full rebuild mode. Schnider will be wasting away there and by the time they are a competitive team he will be past his prime. So if you want to keep him and not get a fantastic goaltending prospect who could be a great #1 when they are competitive that is just insane.

Or they were last in the strongest division in the league and got lucky by winning the lottery and can use that potential elite player to try and make the playoffs.

Why let the best thing to happen to them trigger a 5 year rebuild when you really don't have to. Plus a build like that forces Hall out the door and then you have to ask what the point of getting him was.

Yes you got lucky to win a low quality 1st overall pick. He may be good someday but is not going to be a Crosby or McDavid..... Even for them they did not make the playoffs the next season. So to expect Nolan or Hischer to be the player to take you back to the glory land next year you have to give your head a shake.

Also I belive trading for Hall was a bad move by the orginization... Defence wins championships and look at the strides the Oilers made this year due to thier backend. Hall was the signal the rebuild was on.

Lol you are adorable. That wasn't even close to what I said. You take the 18 year old NHL player, build around what you have, and take your shot. Edmonton went out and got one defenseman and was a juggernaut. Imagine if NJ signs or trades for a top 4D that teams NEED to move, strong playoff possibility.

In your second post you mention building from the back out. Dumping your #1 is not going to do that.

Way past due and we are not getting Schnieder. So you say Edmonton traded for a D and blew it out of the water..... No.... They had the best player in the world play a full season and that D helped...... Any player that NJ chooses at #1 will not be a franchise player in this years draft . At best a 50-60 point guy with some potential to put up a few more. If you think that will turn your team into a contender this year or in the next couple of years with a top 4 D signing then you are on crack....
