We've already seen with Tarasenko and Horvat that it's a buyers market this year. Kane is a unique situation *if* it's true he will only waive his NMC for Toronto or NYR, he can be acquired for a lot less. And the Chairot deal is a disaster and we all know it, and Foligno wasn't last year

I would prefer to see Kane double retained and Engvall kept on the team, he's played really well for his role

Sorry, all I meant was that the value seems extremely short. Maybe Kane is cheap in that situation but there will be tons of competition for the rest of those guys.

Well the debate should be how much upgrade the four guys brought in , are any upgrade on the four guys they replace. Remember it's 2023. Worth a years worth of draft picks?

If it brings back a cup its worth it if not its not worth it. But you can't sit around and watch the teams you are competing get better and no do anything.

The Question is what is the Leafs window to win? They have 2 years for sure. Beyond that it depends on what Matthews and Nylander do as UFAs. I think the Leafs need to show them as well as potential UFAs if Matthews was to leave that they are willing to do anything to win. None of these picks will mean anything in the Next 2 years but if you win a cup it would have been worth it,

We'll do you think a some third liners from a non playoff team is going to bring a cup. Everyone year we see teams trade so much at TDL "to improve" and rarely are there postitve results.
We'll; see if Kane is healthy, put the seems to missing a gear right now.
One reason the Leafs are in so much trouble rounding out their roster is they have traded away so many futures.....;.;players that are needed on cheap ELC contracts. The only drafted Leafs on ELC is Holmberg.
Let's not use this nonsense about a two year window. Matthews will decide whether he wants to be a Leafs or not. I don't think he remains partly of cap reason. And again trading away futures and depending on UFAs to build a team will result in further disappointment
So what happens when Matthews, Nylander, Brodie and Murray are no longer Leafs in summer of 2024. I just hope the new Leaf GM can find ways to spend that new found cap 28.5m wisely.

I think the bigger question will be next February. Would the Leafs be sellers of Matthews and Nylander etc....to reboot their reload a playoff sooner.
