i feel like this could backfire he hasn't been very good offensively recently still a great defender but trading four picks from this year that's really going to affect your future

RoR is really underrated; he is one of the best 2-way players in the game, and has an mysterious ability to move defenders to where he wants them.

Most seasons this would be true, but not this season. Maybe a change of scenery will help him turn things around.

leafs:

bugs-bunnys-no-meme-512x512.png

They still got their 1st this and next year and if u do the trade down method u take the1st make it a 2nd and so on

Kind of funny and dumb but Dubas always trades down unless there's someone he really wants

I think it's a steep price for ROR with the season he's having, but if he can get a bounce back he's invaluable.

This is exactly what I was thinking.

When u got Matthews, Marner, Tavares, and Nylander spotlight wont be on u so much and he will be the 3c. So take his time really

I adore this deal. Now that I've had some time to settle down, I really hope it doesn't become another Foligno situation, but for the time being, I am stoked. Stanley cup winning, Selke and Conn Smythe recipient for 1.8 mil. Wow. Acciari is also a very, very good get. Heres to hoping ROR extends for a reasonable amount, and Acciari as well.

Toronto won this deal heavy. Unless Knies was apart of the deal it would be a bust and it definitely is bust now seeing this.

Probably solid all around. The leafs 3rd line is gonna be extremely formidable defensively assuming it's some combo of Kampf-RoR-Engvall. Also should take some pressure off RoR, so his offensive numbers may hop up a good bit. Not to mention the intangibles, like bringing in not just a very respected captain, but a captain who's won the cup in recent memory. Very well could be what it takes to get them past Tampa in round 1.

If you drop the 1st, this is still an overpayment for ROR, St Louis just fleeced Dubas

This cost way too much. The Blues have done great work to get what they have for Tarasenko and O'Reilly. This was supposed to be a lean trade deadline where trades are difficult to make. We'll see if that prediction falls flat. I suspect the teams who dealt players early like Vancouver and St.Louis will come out better, but we'll see. I figured O'Reilly would not get a 1st based on his current level of play, I was dead wrong.

They paid based off reputation. If they get the ROR from the Blues playoff run, this is a steal. Big risk to take with how he is playing this season. It makes sense for the Leafs to do something though. Matthews NMC kicks in on July 1st. So you have to figure with him still unsigned, this could be their last or second last run with him.

Lol wow massive overpayment for a guy that has been pretty lackluster this year. Paying top dollar for a name like when the Panthers got Chariot. Desperate times I guess. Blues are making some intelligent moves the fans should be thrilled. Maybe this works out well for the leafs but it’s a steep price. Def a sellers market.

Sounds like Josh Pillar was unlikely to be signed by the Wild. So we essentially bought a 4th rd pick.

Think every team wins here.

Minnesota - Free 4th Round Pick for Cap Space which has 0 value to them
Toronto - Gets a 3RD LINE CENTER in ROR that gives them the best center core in the league. He's fading, but he's a beast come playoff time and a proven leader that will help the Leafs. Steep price for 2 rentals, but Dubas is desperate to save his job and the Leafs need a trade like this if they want any chance of making the 2nd round (still very unlikely IMO)
St.Louis - Got a mid 20's pick in a very deep draft + a 2nd + 3rd and 2 players with bottom 9 potential in the NHL for a fading UFA Rental Center that's going to want a fat contract for his retirement. Great value

I’m sorry but their center core is not better than Eriksson Ek-Hartman-Gaudreau

The Leafs now have insane centre depth with Matthews, Tavares, O'Reilly and Kampf

Not really sure what Minnesota is doing essentially trading a 2021 4th for a 2025 4th

If ROR resign to stl in summer it can be win but i am doubtful. Kudos for Army not being delusional about playoff. Now we have 3 first. How much can blues go up in draft?
