This is a pretty safe, albeit solid play by Dubas, imo. He could've taken a bigger swing for the fences, but he didn't have to. The Leafs are a better, deeper team today than they were yesterday. And it didn't cost them a top prospect. Great asset management and Capology.

To get Meier you'd have to add an A prospect or additional 1st rounder.

Fraser, Robertson, Voit, all great prospects the Leafs can afford to lose.

this trade absolutely sucks. This team just traded a first, second, third, fourth, and a former fourth, just to still be worse than boston, carolina, lightning. This is not the year to go all in lmao.

They have 9 Million in Cap Space today. Crazy how not being in LTIR can give you a lot of cap space come TD

So, Lou gets Hovat, Dubas gets RoR.

Dubas loses again.

This smells worse than trading a 1st and two 4ths to get Foligno.

Only way for Dubas to win this trade is the Leafs make it to the Final 4 or RoR resigns a Spezza size deals.

I swear if this was an ACGM 99% would believe it was a troll and hate this deal for the Leafs.

But the Dubas followers are loving it.

Worse part, RoR stinks right now. While Hovat is having a career best year.

Yet Dubas sells the farm for a 3rd liner.

I think the Leafs might go after Chychrun still. Dubas said he wanted to "improve up front and on the back end" and conveniently got 2 forwards. With Dubas going all in, if the Leafs get Chychrun, they are automatically cup contenders or even the cup favorite IMO (ignore the first round thing but the team itself).


On the trade, ROR fills what they need and if the Leafs go far (which they could) and ROR resigns, it's a huge W for the Leafs

Yeah not being on LTIR is a big advantage, but my point being the 2 big buyouts and trading Fiala because of it!

Lol if you are dumb I guess you could come to that conclusion. Compared a team overpaying for a washed up version of a player bc of his name / past performances. seems pretty obvious what my point was… wasn’t that hard to follow

Great deal for both teams. Blues get a haul in draft pick, but the leafs get a former Conn Smythe winner and Selke and Lady Byng finalist. Great add and should make them favourites to beat Tampa unless Tampa also makes a big add.
