I'm not sold on Weegar. Too much money, too much term. I'd prefer to overpay a little for Soucy or Cole on a much shorter term.

Ottawa certainly does want weegar, they were in talks with Florida all off season. Also, just because he's on a long contract doesn't mean he has to spend it all with the Sens, the cap will go up and he'll be easier to dump when his contract isn't worth it. We gotta start trading futures away for success now and weegar is currently an improvement on all our RD (including zub although maybe not by a ton)

I think you're alone with this take. The immediate impact he would bring should overlook the fact that in 6 years this contract could look bad. Tampa was in a similar boat with McDonagh last offseason and they found a way to make it work it still be just as competitive. The cap is also expected to rise $10M in 3 seasons, who knows how much higher it can get in those 3-5 years after?
