Description
At least until the lottery results, if not 1 or 2, then trade b4 the Draft. If SJ gets Bedard or Fantilli, you still have a scorer in Timo & an offensive Dman in EK65. With Burns gone EK65 is manageable. If Timo is gone, there's no scoring winger, we still haven't overcome Little Joes departure. My ACGM has over $2 mill for a rookie contract & whatever, w/ Lindblom, Simek, Kunin &/or Lebanc coming off the books in 24'-25'. Remember, the C's slide down a slot, after Hertl. ;)

im generally of the same school of thought but I think we disagree on where prospects are. I think bordy also gets a look at the NHL with eklund, and that gregor over this last stretch has proven to be better than svechnikov also dont know if eetu is a full time NHLer next year

Still have no goalie, and maybe they move some money to sign one or acquire one via trade. They might make the Playoffs but they probably don't get too far. They like the Oilers through their first 5-6 years with McDavid being in and out of the playoffs (mostly out) or like Vancouver who only made it to the Playoffs in the play-in year despite having a good roster on paper.

If SJ are going to miss even just 2/5 years they might as well tank for this and the next season. The Pacific division is pretty weak but it's only getting stronger, so they might as well prepare by getting as many assets as they can out of Meier and Karlsson. Maybe even look at moving Couture after that.

I agree but our cap situation is much better after 23/24 with labanc lindbolm kunin simek all coming off the books. Bordy's development shouldn't have to stall so we can tank again, but I dont think he will have that impact anyways. We can sign any older ufa goalie to a 1/2 year contract so we dont destroy eetu by pencilling him in before he's ready

I have Eklund at LW, & w/ hopefully Hertl, Fantilli/Bedard, Cooch, Sturm as my 4 Cs. I’d still go Svech over Gregor, I can’t take him no more. He’s fast, but can’t hit the net. He missed the empty net 3 times the other game.

thats completely fair but he is also a 1 man forecheck and one of the only good skaters the sharks have. I have a working theory that he sold his soul to the devil in order to be an every day NHL quality player but the hidden cost was that he will never score again. Definitely think eklund and maybe even bordy are on the wing next year

Might be tricky to find an older goalie looking to sign for 1 or 2 years who can at least provide around league average goaltending. They would probably end up rushing the young guy once he starts looking good and ruin him or sign a starter to a massive deal that will get in the way down the line.

Personally, I think they should only resign Meier if they manage to move Karlsson and he signs between 8.5-9 or 9 flat. I do really believe that he will be the Sharks Jeff Skinner and underperform in the first few years even if he still gets around 30 goals.

They’re pretty much locked no higher/lower than 4. Look at Vancouver, since they made the finals, like 1 or 2 times playoffs & they got some talent. I think if you tear it down too much you have to hope you hit on a lot of picks. I’m saying they should be blown away with multiple 1rst or keep them.

Meier is a proven quantity at this point, the cap is going up and our team should increase over the next few years so I think it's more reasonable to assume he will get better instead of regressing. If we are tanking next year as well we do not need league average goal tending. I could definitely see a world where we keep meier and Karlsson moves in the off season

I agree on Maki, I have him as a backup like 30 games, but if that’s too much, leave him on the Cuda and just resign Dell to backup.

Of the 2 I’d keep Timo as well, age/contract. EK65 is still a turnover machine, just go heavy D for awhile until we can find or develop someone.

I wouldn't call it regression but let's just say right noe he's super motivated 1) He's in a contract year (last year was his first career high that wasn't in a contract year since the last one) and 2) he's essentially auditioning for a contender to pick him up. So, if he resigns in SJ and they aren't winning, I think that will weigh him down. So, it might be a 2 or 3 years of sub 9m play from Meier. That's not to say, he won't be producing at all like Skinner did in some of those years.

If the Sharks do land Bedard, there's no guarantee that he will instantly propel this team into the playoffs which is good if they want to tank. However, Timo and him might make them a middle of the pack team.

Trading Karlsson to the Oilers seems much easier in the offseason, but if it doesn't happen then it could complicate what they decide to do with Timo. Trading a know quantity can be risky but that's why GMs usually ask for a young player or take on an established player if possible. Grier seems to want Mercer in a Meier deal, so if he can get him it would be a "safe" move
