Thinking about it...

Minnesota using their retention slots to keep deadline pieces in the East...

Is this a 3D Chess move?

Instead of getting better, they make sure others can't get better

If im SEA I target Ekholm at the TDL

Also 99% convinced Grubauer is getting bought out

Also convinced that they will try to dump Wennberg to after a big piece in free agency

Honestly, I don’t think Grubauer gets bought out. Before yesterday, he had been on streak of good form dating back to about Christmas. I think he can continue to return to form as long as Seattle doesn’t forget how to play defense in front of him.

They could also try to make themselves better, like idk by adding a center.

They're getting assets when they can, we know they need assets because those Suter and Parise buyouts will hurt them a lot

If that does happen, this will be a great deal for them.

I wouldn't rule Orlov and Hathaway both returning. They were huge parts of the team and Washington could consider moving Mantha to bring them back.

Sheary or Eller is probably next imo. A chance it's Jensen as well.

Why bother trading Jensen tho?

Yeah man, and only from detroit as well. it would be insane to think Washington could get anything more than that, you're a homer if you think otherwise. Detroit would be interested though, but only for a 3rd as best!

This is wild, apparently Connor Bedard's cousin is currently projected to go #1 in the 2026 NHL Draft. What does that family eat?

Wow, that's weird, i wonder how many of these there are, like i know Carey Price's cousin is Keaton Ellerby ( 2007 10th OA pick by the Panthers, played 212 NHL games ) and Shane Doan is one of his 2nd cousins

Elias Lindholm and Calle Jarkrok are cousins but I don’t know of too many beyond that (the Pitlicks I guess).

The Hayes family (Kevin and Jimmy) are cousins with the Tkachuks, as well as the Fitzgeralds (Casey, Ryan, Riley, and their father Tom)

Edit: Wait, someone else already did this

I gotta toss Tage Thompson on the list. He’s dragging the Sabres to relevance - 2 points out of the wildcard. He has a legitimate chance to put up 2x the goals and points that Eichel puts up. That’s kinda silly. I dunno who to kick off the list but I’m probably putting Tage in the top 3, maybe 2.

And high five Buffalo fans. I’m glad the O’Rielly trade worked. A lot of trades between the Blues and Sabres have sucked in the past. And I’m glad y’all don’t suck.

Edit: I may kick Karlsson off. Having a good year but not good enough to carry his team. His defensive liability is pretty substantial….

Tage Thompson is probably in the 8-12 range for me. He’s a superstar but I’d argue Dahlin has been even more important to the Sabres.
