Initial Creation Date: Feb. 23, 2023
Published: Feb. 23, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
On the roster changes :

Boeser adds a legitimate 2nd line winger for Boldy and Ek

If anyone has been watching Iowa the past couple months then you would know that Rossi looks like a completely different player from the start of this season and probably should’ve been called up awhile ago. We’re all still waiting for him to get his chance between KK97 and Zucc but that likely won’t happen until next season:(

Beckman looks to be hitting his stride and Evason apparently is pleased with his 2-way game so if he can start scoring like he’s used to doing then he will most likely graduate to the big leagues very soon.

Defense looks a little sketchy so Guerin could add a more reputable Dman if he feels he needs to, this line-up feels like it would score far more often than the current one.

Goaltending doesn’t change one bit! Gus for Vezina!!!!!
Trades
1.
MIN
ANA
  1. Foligno, Marcus
  2. Greenway, Jordan
  3. Steel, Sam
Additional Details:
Doesn’t matter where just get them off the team
2.
MIN
  1. 2023 1st round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
The Habs add the current highest scoring rookie defenseman to what looks to be a promising young core of players such as Suzuki, Pinard, Caufield, Dach, Slafkovsky, Xhekaj and Ylonen with prospects on the way in Kidney, Beck, Hutson, Mesar, Rohrer, and Mailloux. Essentially speeding up the rebuild process while maintaining a high end pick in what looks to be the best draft since 2015.
MTL
  1. Addison, Calen
Additional Details:
Starting to feel like Addison is on his way out which is sad considering he just arrived. The offense is top tier. The defense has been lackluster at times but not so much that he deserves being scratched several games in a row. I think if Guerin ends up trading him he’ll regret it for the the rest of his front office career but who knows? We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.
3.
MIN
  1. Boeser, Brock ($1,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Boeser is almost guaranteed to be traded whether it be at the TDL or in the off season. I’m genuinely not sure if they would get a better offer than this but according to Boeser’s agent, Minnesota seems to be the preferred destination so that helps on Minnesota’s end.
VAN
  1. Peart, Jack [Reserve List]
  2. Spacek, David [Reserve List]
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Minnesota has one of the deepest prospects pools in the league especially at the Dman position, so this might seem like it could hurt but when you consider that they would still have Faber, Masters, Lambos, Orourke, Hunt, and Healey, it hurts a little less.

Not sure MTL is looking to trade a first in such a stacked draft

I have no idea either but if they feel that Addison will be better than who they could get with FLA’s 1st round pick then I personally would pull the trigger. It would also speed up the rebuild considerably in my opinion but this is all just for fun from my point of view.

I highly doubt that would fetch the Habs Addison. Struble has essentially no chance of playing in the NHL so it’s essentially a 2024 2nd for a 22 year old defenseman who has 27 points in 52 games in his rookie season and will likely continue to improve.

Struble is close to nhl (graduating to pro next year) and he is a beast, just need a place to grow.

He has 11 points in 26 NCAA games as a senior and is considered an offensive defenseman. Why would Minnesota trade a rookie defenseman who has 27 points in 52 NHL games and is 1 year older for Struble? The 2nd round pick doesn’t close that gap. If you wanna send the FLA 2023 1st and Struble then that’s fine but Struble doesn’t move the line at all.

The habs wpuld have 0 interest in that trade.

Addison is undersized and isnt anything special 5 on 5. The habs already have hutson who would be the better version of Addison in the system. The florida pick is all but guarunteed to be a much better player
