I could absolutely see some interest from the Canes here but not for a 1st rounder. Maybe a 3rd and a B prospect. The benefit for the Preds is simply clearing his cap space since they've got no room after this year.

I'm assuming that's without the retention, but even then that's an easy pass from NSH. He's not a cap dump.

I agree, not a cap dump, which is why I was saying the Canes would give a 3rd and a B prospect for him. NSH isn't going to complete this year or next and I'd imagine he'd bring in more of a return this year when he still has some term left than if he was moved next year at the deadline.

It would be a move to start the rebuild. He's not going to draw a massive return but he could get you a piece or two in the future.

It's such a low-ball offer that it doesn't make sense for NSH to take it. Nino's still got another year at a team friendly cap hit, and even if NSH tears it down they'll still need to ice a roster. If a 3rd and a meh prospect is the best NSH can get for him at the deadline, they're better off holding onto him for another season and shopping him at next year's deadline.
