It's just one of those trades that the average fan doesn't care about.

Fair deal.

I liked Slavin when he was with the hawks a year or two back. I don’t know anything about the other guy but ANA has an NHler in this trade.

IDK if he draws penalties, but he certainly takes PIM if you look at his numbers flushed cheeks

CHI gets a goon

I saw Slavin on a news article and thought it meant Jacob Slavin and for a split second, I thought how good Drew must have been to go for Jacob Slavin 1 for 1.

On a side note, fair trade

I still have hopes for Slavin, but this deal is probably going to be just another nothingburger.

Sounds like Anaheims not planning on renewing Grants contract, picking up a center to fill a spot for someone who's getting called up.

I think these kinds of trades are either to fill needs of the AHL teams or to see if a change of scenery will do one of them good. These guys look pretty much equal, both lucky to have gotten a look at the NHL level considering where they were drafted, but neither really having taken advantage of it. Slavin is the only one I’ve seen play, and I only noticed him because he’s Jaccob’s brother. He’s got a little more NHL experience, so maybe a slight win for Anaheim, but Cap Friendly says Drew can play forward or defense, so that could come in handy someday. I say fair deal.

Odd that teams that are out of the playoffs are making deadline deals with each other, but I guess it gives them a chance to try the players out before they decide whether to bring them back next season.
