Time to say it again

What are the Wild doing, burning more money for draft capital when your window is now and the flames are right there…..

As for Boston and Washington, I like this for both sides. And I do see Hathaway re-sign with Boston. He seems like he’d fit the scheme perfectly. While Washington finally is getting a kick to a well needed rebuild

Thank god this team is selling. Going to be super weird having multiple first round picks.

I don't know what the pairings will be (Bruins fans can help me out) but man does Orlov-Carlo have some serious potential as a shutdown pairing.

That's the problem. Two of the picks are for the next couple of years, so they will likely be rather good picks in the second and third rounds.

Yeah that's fair, but if they rebuild (which they probably won't), they have many good assets to sell. I'm sure once Bergeron/Marchand retire, Boston will sign stars in FA to try and keep the momentum going. Their defensive core is still Playoff worthy, they just need to find replacements for their top forwards.

Well that’s nice of a deal, so no Gavrikov I guess.

A high 2nd has nearly a 30% chance to be an impact player in his career, a low 2nd around 15%. No big deal.

Good on the Capitals for realizing they weren't good enough and getting some assets back for free agents.

Huge overpayment by Boston for lower tier plays. Leafs got ROR + Acciari for a similar package

Orlov is really good. Fair Trade but WSH wins because BOS is so screwed after bergy retires

While other teams will battle to get Gavrikov for a 1st, Boston got Orlov+, a No 2 defenceman, for a similar price (27th OA at best). And they will probably resign him, cause that what they do.

This is a better move than ROR!

Lol, no bias there eh.

Washington are going to be a very interesting team this summer. Doubt they are any interest in not trying to go for the playoffs again next year.

Good trade for BOS

Bruins sent out an underwater 3.1 million contract unretained and Orlov would play on the first pair in Toronto. Bruins got the more useful players and paid less, as their picks will be worse and gave up a 5th not a 4th for retention.

Steep price to pay for Boston but it’s their last shot and they are going all in. Boston is a menace even more now

Exactly another one that overvalues late picks. This draft has about 22 impact players according to the pundits. The Bruins wont be picking that low even if they get bounced 1st round as President trophy winners.

A late 1st is a late pick and chances are low the player develops into a regular, effective nhl'r

There are leafs ACGMs out there offering a 3rd, 4th and 5th for Hathaway and Orlov as soon as they were scratched. Not surprising they think its an overpay.

No it isnt. A bunch of late picks for legit playoff performers in their prime. Good work by Sweeney not to give up a prospect. Who cares about these picks with their core aging. It works for both teams. I would have given up prospects if I was Holland. Another fail by Ken

Holland and the oilers have nothing to do with this trade and likely would gone into a bidding war and paid much if they showed interest. Lots of of options still out there. Keep your head up. You’re doomed for disappointed if you consider every trade another team makes a failure for the oilers.

I mean the Bruins just found their partner for McAvoy in the playoffs when they can't consistently play 5'9 Gryz and ROR just moves Tavares to LW... Not sure how you can say that ROR is the more useful player in terms of team situation and building. The Top 6 wasn't an issue for Toronto, ROR may be the bigger name, but even Orlov would be more impactful on the Leafs when they're still rolling Holl, Timmons and some combo of Sandin/Liljegren with a combined 7 games playoff experience.
