My Probably Unrealistic OffSeason ACGM

Created by: edeangel84
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 23, 2023
Published: Feb. 23, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Big decisions for the offseason will be:

1 Front office changes should be a big point of discussion. I’m 100% on board with replacing Hextall and Burke. This past offseason was bad enough that it justifies a change.

2 What to do with Jarry? He’s very good and he’s the best goalie on the market. However, do we want to put a big long term contract on a goalie who can’t stay healthy?

3 UFAs and RFAs as usual who comes back?

4 Trades: Carter must go so Sully can’t waste a roster spot on him. Any other trade probably will be controversial. I’m going to propose the ultimate controversial trade idea.

Additional Details:
This would be a trade after the draft but before free agency. Getting Jake for essentially 1.3 million after giving up Greenway and Hartman is a steal for Minnesota.

  1. 2024 2nd round pick (BUF)
BUF
  1. Pettersson, Marcus
Additional Details:
If MP waives for Buffalo this is a fair deal for both teams. He’d fit in well as their 3rd LHD for 2 years.

I'd trade Jake for that.

I wouldn't give up that much for 1 year of Guentzel when we have no chance to re-sign him. We have 2 years of $14.7 million in dead money starting next year. Even with cap rise, we can't afford to pay him. Realistically, we couldn't even afford him next year since we currently have $9.3 million to work with and 13 players on the roster. After this trade, we'd be at $7.9 million with 12 players on the roster.
