The Orlov Return for Schenn

Created by: BeautifulIdiot
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 24, 2023
Published: Feb. 24, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
It was essentially
1st
2nd
3rd
Capdump

for

Orlov at 1.275m
Garnet Hathaway - 4th line winger

lets say schenn is worth 85% of orlov

that would still be a 1st and a 3rd and a cap dump as schenn is less than league min and is as I said 85% of Orlov and he plays a more premium position.
I have that the 4th liner and 2nd and the 85% cancel themselves out

I feel like your math is inspired by Professor Scott Steiner but I was just looking for confirmation.

Heres an example of his work for those who don’t know.

Orlov is a completely different player. He's a puck mover, Schenn is not. Schenn won't fetch that return, the Canucks will be lucky if he gets a 2nd and a 3rd for them.

Schenn isn't netting anything close to that. Schenn is playing 17 minutes on the 27th ranked Canucks after being a 5/6 defenseman in the years previous. Orlov has been a top 2 defenseman on a playoff calibre team for years now...

That's the ask he's a Canuck. Orlovs more productive doesn't take dumb penalties is physical enough.has a mere 425k more cap hit skates wayyyyy better. You're delusional if you think you're getting more than a 3. Personally I wouldn't do more than a 5and if it was turned down I'd probably think to myself they did me a favor.

You mean 7/8 in TB he was in the press box more than 50% of his regular season time here, and over 60 in the playoffs. Drove down to San Diego to play for the Gulls when playing for Anaheim.

He is guaranteed to get more than a 3rd. Obviously he won't get a 1st plus, but you'd be delusional if after all the trades, you still don't think Schenn could even fetch a third

You mean the guy who hasn't played in Tampa in 2 years and is a completely different player now?

No he isn't his skating still sucks. His first pass is meh at best. He has so many hits because he's never playing with the puck ,and takes too many penalties because he has the mobility of an oak tree.

Maximum ur getting for Schenn is a 2nd max and MAYBE like a 6th or something. It’s nice to dream though until he’s traded. Enjoy.

A 2nd is a very good return. No Canucks fans should be complaining about a 2nd if that is the return

The guy who is a 5-6 defenseman on the 27th worst defense in the league . Who is 11th in the league in PIM'S @or near the top in hits because never plays with the puck.

To start...Schenn is not close to Orlov as far as value.

He's a veteran, depth D-man. 6/7 on the depth chart for most playoff teams.

A 3rd would be more than fair for what he's going to bring in return.

With that said...it sounds like Tocchet is a fan....Schenn wants to stay in Vancouver...and he has a baby on the way. The nucks will do what's best for the nucks...as they should....so he certainly isn't 'untouchable' by any stretch of the imagination...but I can definitely see them setting a higher market value on Schenn since the value of a 3rd round pick likely isn't enough to move a guy they like, and wants to stay.

They probably have discussions with him to see where, if anywhere, he would prefer to go and see if they can make something happen that makes sense for everyone. That's what good management would do, anyway

What about the way Vancouver has handled things recently inspires the term "Good Management".
