NON HABS FANS OPINIONS WANTED

Created by: alexgoodyear
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 13, 2017
Published: Jun. 13, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Moves are reasonable I think just the amount of moves is a bit much. Helps solve problems up the middle ( Hanzal and Bonino) and Give Galchenyuk a year to show what hes got. Add scoring with Justin Williams and by bringing up Sergachev and Hudon. Trade away Montoya to make Lindgren official back up and make space on cap hit by trading away Plekanec. 2nd round pick might be a stretch for Beaulieu. This gives montreal plenty of cap space next year to sign price long term and keep the team together.

I'ld rather keep Plekanec and my 2nd round pick than get overrated Hanzel. Not in favour for someone that is just BIG. Also 3 million for a 4th line center is too much. Habs might as well stay pat than add these two players in my opinion.

Hanzal for 4.5 million who had 39 points and can be a legit top 2 centre or plekanec for 6 million who had 28 points... agree with the Bonino statement just wondering if adding hanzal and taking away plek is enough change up the middle for this team... Danault is more of the 4th line centre

Looks good. Markov won't sign for that low and Montreal won't give him 3 years as if he retires they still eat the cap (35+ contract).

Also for Plekanec's cap dump I'm pretty sure you cannot down grade picks like that and may have to take on a pending UFA contract to make it legal. Minor nitpick though.

Obviously who knows with the FA signings and everyone will have opinions but they don't look impossible.

You're correct. Why not just take the write down on Pleks' salary for a year of $1.5M and use the rest to buy Hanzal? But that said, I agree that Hanzal is not such a huge improvement on Pleks that it warrants the move. Pleks has value to a team with cap room. I suspect Montreal would love to keep him, but it handcuffs Bergevin too much in his other efforts to upgrade the team's scoring while also re-signing Price.

Ideally Vegas takes him, it might be a stretch considering his production last year, however he did average close to 50 points in the three seasons prior
