Man I feel bad for Murray though guy busted his ass and we gave him 0 support and just continue allowing his numbers to drop. As lets be real hes better than what the numbers show rn as he has kept us in every game (EDM sure u could argue little off but Van and Tonight we let him down)

Like in his last 3 hes allowed 4 but of those 2 games he was left out to dry. And if u dont believe go watch em

As man in the second tonight he stole that period stopping 16 of 17 shots when we got only 3 off sure 2 were goals but come on. Third period no help Sabers get 3 easy ones RIP the stats

Cause he saved a goal lul

Not many Dman did that tonight and the fact it prevented a hatty makes everything else void

Liligren just didnt look good tonight and it sucks but hey if u want a spot even at the bottom pair got to be better. Hopefully its a one off as he should be in but if more of this happens no thank u

Honestly wondering if Toronto should take Gio out for some R&R

Hes been starting to look off these past few games as if his age has finally caught up. With the luxury of 9 Dman rest him as I dont know if lowering his ice time is helping the situation. Take him out and try out some new 3rd pairings

McCabe-Brodie
Rielly-Schenn
Gustafsson-Holl
Liligren

No more 11-7 nonsense please. Sit Holl and play someone like Holmberg or Steeves up front.

It’s getting borderline ridiculous the amount of players leaving TOR and having success in a different system.

To be fair, Anderson has 2 goals and 3 points in 9 games and is not a guy that is better than any of the Leafs roster players

To be fair they said the same things about Barabanov. Am I reaching, maybe a little, but Hyman, Mikheyev, Rosen, Barrie, Sandin, NAK, Moore, Marchment, Malgin, Ritchie, Boyd, freaking Vesey, all have improved away from TOR.

And I’m concerned where we are headed with Liljegren’s development.

the underlying theme: they all go to worse teams that can give them bigger opportunities. Not really sure what Sheldon's supposed to do, his job is to put the players who have been performing the best on the ice to give this contender the best chance to win. His job isn't to baby some young players into the NHL on a contending Leafs team.

Not entirely wrong there but these are the players we have also used in the top 6: Johnsson, Vessey, Thornton, Galchenyuk, Kase, not exactly game changers.

I’ll ask this, name one player since Keefe took over in 2019 that made them significantly better as a player. Nylander?

Sheldon’s job is to cultivate and progress players, is it not?

That and think about the pressure. Your team is not gonna make the playoffs and will give u more ice time of course u will see results as they don't care if u make simple mistakes as they not fighting for their playoff lives. Sandin wasn't good defensively against NYR but got an assist for Washington whose out of a spot it's whatevs in Toronto that would be treated way differently

As for Anderson he's playing more on a team with little care in the world as all they want is Bedard. If he was traded to another competitor pressbox

Exactly

Like I get the frustration but going into the playoffs against a team whose been to 3 finals in a row can't afford to gamble with these youngsters. Last playoffs he was in Sandin was in not good and before we brought in McCabe the big concern was shutdown D pair

As while Sandin-Liligren had its moments against tough forechecking teams like Boston or Tampa they struggled bad. Meanwhile McCabe-Brodie has been excellent slow start but have been good ever since and I trust them vs Tampa big boyz

For Anderson I mean Acciari and Lafferty have been solid. Sure u could have taken ZAR out but ZAR-Kampf-Acciari has looked good so yea.

But still we got guys who can come up so not concerned with the Anderson move. Sandin could come back to bite or we draft someone better with the Boston pick

And also some players just don't work on certain teams but thrive on others. Look at Jarnkrok sucked in CGY good here

Lol and just for some context, Joey Anderson played 10:31 at 5v5 the lowest of all CHI FWDs tonight. Anderson average ice time with TOR in 14 games, 9:35.

Oh ya, tons of extra ice

Bunting, Kampf, Liljegren, off the very top of my head don't have time to think beyond this season rn really. Too busy to even be on CF rn yet here i am lol

All good, no point to get into this too deep.

Micheal Bunting was 25 years old when he got here and played 307 AHL games + 26 NHL games with ARI. Not a bad gig to plsy with Matthews and Marner but looks no existent away from anyone in the top 6.

David Kampf was propped up by Engvall (only recently having a nice two game stretch) where he was getting completely caved in.

Timothy Liljegren has been healthy scratched multiple times and will probably not play much in the playoffs (time will tell on that one).

Does it drive anyone else crazy when people around the internet (not on cap friendly but other places) talk about Knies being unsigned like it means he clearly doesn’t want to be a leaf and is gonna leave in the off-season or something. I can’t tell if people like that are trolling or they just know nothing about how the NCAA works. Of course he isn’t signed if he’s in the NCAA, he’s not allowed to if he wants to play NCAA, that’s how it works. He’s still got 2 more years until he can walk, but why would he not come into the league now for one of the best teams in the league if he can, vs playing college for 2 more years before getting a chance to play?

if he's offered a contract to join a top 5 NHL team going all in on a playoff run alongside his home-state hero that he would've idolized since at least age 13-14 range what kind of 20 year old kid could possibly refuse it? Answer: none.
