I’ve been super critical of the Leafs but I’ve remained steadfast in that I would take our top 6 against any team in the NHL.
Bunting Matthews Marner
Jarnkrok Tavares Nylander

If the bottom 6 can just break even and not get out scored like they did last year and Samsonov/Murray be just a little better than average, they have a chance to go on long run.

And if this man has woken up, look the fukc out

Six goals and 12 points in 8 games for Auston Matthews.

Murray is gonna make the goalie debate very interesting

Leafs going into Florida

1-8-1 against them

Stops 34/36 and almost had SOTY.

K so I think its decided if we get home ice Sammy gets game 1

If we somehow lose home ice Murray starts game 1

As Murray on the road 0.920 SV and Sammy at home 0.929SV

Kind of feel bad for Liligren as when u got Brodie, McCabe, Holl, Giordano and Schenn on your blue line who are built for defending leads and keeping possessions to the outside its hard to envision him in game 1 vs. Tampa. Maybe u rotate with Schenn but tonight he wasnt great so yea.

Probs will see

Rielly-Brodie
McCabe-Holl
Gio-Schenn

And honestly its a scary Dcore. Less offense sure but Gio can do PP unit 2 if necessary.

People gonna take the Rielly was out Dcore looked good aspect to far without realizing Leafs used 5 guys who are built to defend. If he was in tonight got a feeling result would be no different lul

And the PP without him (minus the 5 on 3) pretty bad. Some dont like it but he is a necessary component to this team. And with his recent play I got no doubts he will contribute in a potential playoff run

I’d be worried if I was Rielly cause Gustafsson was excellent tonight and if memory serves me correct, a offensive Dman.

Gustafsson
CF 13 CA 11 Highest Corsi rating after Gio tonight
SCF 5 SCA 6
HDCF 3 HDCA 2

Meh just take out Liligren who once again didnt look good and its becoming more and more of a thing with him

Rielly-Brodie
McCabe-Holl
Gio-Schenn/Gus

And Gus really didnt impress me either lul. PP didnt change much with him on it vs. Rielly so yea. There are stats and then there is the eye test and man not noticeable besides breif PP moments.

In general as I said above if Rielly was in got a feeling results would be no different. As the 5 defenders mentioned just locked this game down and Leafs wanted to send a message after being spanked with 7 goals vs NYI and people will take to much into it with him out. Got a feeling if Liligren, Gus, Holl, were out probs would be the same result with maybe FLA getting one more goal.

That I will agree with, Liljegren has not looked good since he has been healthy scratched multiple games and regulated to 8-10mins a night cause we have too many defenseman. It’s been a major fail on the organization with his development in the 2nd half of the year.

Morgan Rielly is a good offensive dman that is horrible for this team. He does not fit

I feel Liligren since the TDL is taking the loss of Sandin a bit to much into the wrong side of playing hockey. As notice hes moved Liligren's play drops. Like to me I would be battling my ass off going I aint losing my spot to Luke Schenn or Erik Gustafsson but the fact is man I am noticing Gustafsson more than Liligren. Schenn sure depending on the matchup Liligren has an advantage but thats about it. People will look at the one game without Rielly and go look but remember past the TDL and before the NYI game especially against the Canes, Avs, Sens, and Oilers he looked pretty good especially the Avs game.

Thats why to me I think were gonna see come game 1

Rielly-Brodie
McCabe-Holl
Gio-Gustafsson

Gus and Rielly will QB the PP's and McCabe, Holl, Brodie, and Gio can do the heavy defending. Unless that is Liligren brushes this off as just being a bad week and goes back to the 2-way guy turning heads

Hopefully that goal gets Kerfoot going.

Knew the shootout goal would spark something but he needs to keep at it. And now with King Kong off his back watch him get like 5 goals in 3 games or score a hatty lul

Jarnkrok is a DAWG, loving his play all season and particularly of late. Perfect combo of defensively responsible, finishing ability, forecheck, and hockey IQ to go alongside a Matthews/Marner type if we go the balanced lines route - I'm wondering if we this ...

Jarnkrok - Matthews - Marner
Lafferty - Tavares - Nylander
Bunting - O'Reilly - Acciari
ZAR - Kampf - Kerfoot

ROR gets a solid finisher and player to play with in Bunting, JT and WN get a speedy forechecker style to play with

Not a fan of that third line.

Just do

Bunting-Matthews-Nylander
Kerfoot-JT-Marner
Jarnkrok-ROR-Lafferty
ZAR-Acciari-Kampf

Basically have 2 2nd lines a 1st line whose deadly offensively, and a 4th line that will grind you to a halt.

Separating Jarnkrok from AM34 would be a mistake

why is the 3rd line bad? Three guys who can play with an edge, play driver ROR gets a winger who can finish in Bunting and a hardworker who can also clean up in front in Acciari. Think it could work great, and just provides more depth, especially as Jarnkrok is clicking with Matthews and has clicked with Marner earlier in the season as well. Plus as the AM/MM line plays against the opponent's top lines it's a bonus to have a guy who is as defensively responsible as Jarnkrok out there with them.

I feel Bunting being with Matthews is just better. Jarnkrok has been good with him but he was also good with JT and Marner. I want to see him with ROR as if they can mesh we can build 3 scoring lines

As the speed of Jarnkrok and Lafferty with the finish of ROR could be deadly and makes more sense for a 2-way third line

Then go:
