It's neither of those options.
And I'll take any excuse to dunk on resident R*ngers trolls.

I respect that. You have to have a goal in life and hating the New York Rangers is one I can get behind.

I think (if I’ve done my math correctly), they can fit him twice retained with Krav gone and Leschyshyn+Lockwood in the AHL starting March 1st.

LMAOOO but..... but..... but.... Kravtsov was a former 9th Overall pick surely he has value, surely a team will pay the "price"

I remember last year when Rangers fans were refusing a 2nd for Krav but the same can be said for Oilers fans with Puljujarvi. Refusing the same price! Time changes things and to ignore that is bad faith.

The sad part is you either kept this post since 2021 or went looking for it.

Not the W I think you're looking for.

Tage Thompson was bad. Its easy to have confirmation bias. Context matters. A high pick pedigree isnt easily dismissed. I dont blame Rags fans.

If he does, then NYR should be fine without the waiver moves, but even if he stays on regular IR then the Rangers can fit him starting March 1.

Thompson showed flashes of actual talent before breaking out. Kravtsov showed nothing except not being able to make the mediocre bottom six NYR iced last year. Pedigree-Shmedigree when you don’t show a lick of talent or consistency.

Four years ago, Craig Button’s top prospect list had Kravtsov #1 overall.

If he didn't have KHL leverage, he might have gotten a 3rd or a 4th.

He's basically a UFA because whoever has his rights is going to have to offer him a very strong contract to get him to stay in the NHL. Vancouver paid a 7th round pick for the longshot that Kravtsov does well enough in their lineup to justify an overpriced bridge deal.

He isn't good enough to be an effective rental, and everybody else has their own prospects in house who require development time and resources. It makes no sense for most teams to give up an asset for a player who will be out the door at the end of the season.

Meaningless. It was 4 years ago. That isnt a flex. A flex is when the whole board thought Chiarot was a dump cap last season and in the same time frame was traded for a bounty.

If I am an NHL team, I want Jeff Gorton nowhere near my draft room

Rangers dumping him for nothing because they're going all in. Out of his prime P Kane better be worth it.

Will be funny if Kravtsov fails out of the NHL and goes back to Russia, and the Rags use that 7th to draft the next Zetterberg.

I suppose you could say that neither player is worth anything so New York wins by getting a draft pick out of the deal, but I’d like to think this is a “let’s see if one of these guys can benefit from a change of scenery” trade. From that perspective I’d give the edge to Vancouver because Kravtsov is a year and a half younger and was a more highly regarded prospect, but there’s no down side for either team since both players can be let go at the end of the season. I like this kind of trade because it gives the guys a chance to show if they can do better in a different organization. I'm not betting that'll happen, but it's worth a try.

I just dont understand why the KHL is much leverage. Years ago when they were pushing it, guys like Jagr were making 8mil clear... but their finances are much different now. Top players in that league are lucky to make over 1mil USD. I get that its a backup option if NHL teams arent offering more than league min deals, but even tax free you have no room for growth.

NYR hasn't drafted well in the top 10 I'm quite a while.
