Great deal for St. Louis IMO. Barbashev's numbers last year seem like huge outliers, getting an actual good prospect for a pending UFA was a tidy piece of work

Brisson vs Holtz
Cormier vs Casey/ Muk

VGK gets much stronger as this doesn’t take them out of the running on Meier and they get a really solid player. STL gets a great prospects tho.

Blues get another (recent former) first for a veteran UFA player. It depends on what they do with their assets but hard not to like what the blues are doing.

Vegas gets a solid middle 6 forward at a decent cap hit for likely 1 playoff run.

St. Louis gets a solid prospect.

Fair deal.

Blues have done a terrific job with getting assets for the guys they’ve traded and this is no different.

Parayko may be next, although the five traded assets by the Blues were seen to be traded a while back, considering they are all UFA's.

This is a steal for Vegas, no?

They get a very good middle 6 center who's young and they could even possibly resign for last years 31st overall pick who's not having a great season.

Its a fine deal. I dont know why ppl think the Blues got this amazing deal, Dean, has a long injury history and projects as a 3rd line checking center. Barbachev is already better than that. Just more assets for the Blues rebuild/retool and Vegas gets a relatively cheap rental when deadline prices are usually quite high.

Fair deal, but if I were to pick, I'd give the win to St. Louis.

A solid 1st round C prospect for an expiring depth player is a darn good return.

Fair deal, sure, Dean has some promise but i'd argue Dean's ceiling is close to what Barbashev currently is

Assuming this Dean fella is still a 1st round caliber prospect two years after being drafted, the Blues are killing it.

I assume Vegas kept their pick because they have another trade lined up. Otherwise, would they not get more value from keeping a prospect who has already developed for a few years? They are going to need ELC+non-arb RFA talent to fill the gaps in their lineup. If they keep their 2023 pick, that player isn't likely to figure in for 3+ years.

if they keep their pick, the prospect they draft has probably a better shot at being better than dean since the 2023 is more stacked ( and dean was drafted during covid year too, proper scouting was hard.)

Overpay by Vegas. Barbashev has a lot of great tools but his offense is super overrated by one year.

St Louis is doing the one year retool incredibly

Dean's ppg has suffered a little bit in the last 15 to 17 games since Kidney showed up in Gatineau from Acad Bathurst. Kidney's a 2.53 player since arriving there (Montreal hasn't shown him yet) - the same ppg as Bedard but Dean's was 17 points in approx the last 15 gms, 49 pts in 38 gms.
