Clear win for the Devils -- they kept all of their top prospects and gave over what will most likely be two low 1sts.

It looks like the Devils got the better end of the deal. Managed to get their targeted winger without giving up any of their premier prospects or young players. Also didn't outright surrender the 2024 first;

The return for Meier is awful but from an outsider it's a bit...underwhelming?

The devils definitively win the trade, but the return is better than people think.

Mukhamadullin is a very good prospect, they got possibly multiple 1sts, Zetterberg and Johnsson instead of giving Meier an insane contract.

Gonna be a wild series between the rangers and the devils.

San Jose got a lot, but they should have been able to get more.

The Sharks got a first (the condition will never happen, so it's a first), a second from next year, and a couple of mid-level prospects. The 7th is meaningless, as if the 5th they gave up. The rest of the parts are just there for contract reasons.

Love this for the Devils. Decent chance it only ends up being one 1st as no guarantee they beat CAR/NYR, but even if they do give up two 1sts that means a long playoff run. Don’t hate it for SJ either, but surprised they didn’t hold out for Holtz at least

How is that condition not achievable? Winning two series in either this year or next...if they don't...Timo wasnt the impact player they bought.

Arguably the worst thing to happen to the Sharks besides hiring Grier. What an absolute joke.

I have to imagine the Devils asked him “you sure you don’t want more? That’s it? Really? Okay.”

I can't believe the Devil's even got disaster insurance on the picks too. Feels very lopsided, all the sharks have to look forward too is mid prospects and mid picks

I think the Devils win. I didn't think he would go to the Devils, but thats usually how big trades like this work.

I really like Meier. But I think people are underappreciating this return. With his ridiculously high qo he is a weird mix between RFA and Ufa. I suspect njd will get it done but still.

For that they got a first, a conditional first, a good prospect (jerseys pool is insanely deep that he was their 5th ish best prospect), and a good young player in zetterlund. That's a pretty dang good result.

(I'm calling the rest filler)

I think people are more impressed that jerseys asset pool was so damn deep that they didn't use all of it, than that the return was bad

That condition wasn't explained when I wrote that post.

So it is a 1st this year, probably a 1st but possibly a 2nd next year, plus a couple of mid-level prospects.

That's closer to a fair trade, but if I were the Sharks, I would have wanted someone who can make an impact sooner than that.

NJ kind of had to do this considering their opponent is NYR who gonna trade for Kane before Friday and already went and got Tarasenko

Plus they got Shesterkin whose a scary goalie

Gonna be an interesting series

Deal looks good but if Meier goes I want 10mill x 8 years things gonna get complicated

Meier has a lot of negotiating leverage after jersey just spent all that to get him. Especially as he can take his 10 mil qo and hit free agency. The word was he wanted 9ish for term.

If he plays ppg-ish and clicks for the rest of the season I imagine he gets 9-10.5 for term

Maybe it's a sign that San Jose has finally accepted they need to nuke the team.
