San Jose, cmon. The least you should have done was one of their top prospects. These guys probably won’t turn into anything. DEVILS FLECE. (Also does anyone know where to get the handbook to pronounce these names?)

how do you not even get Holtz in return lmao

holtz is five years younger than meier and the only reason why he's not getting the point production this season is because ruff refuses to play him (for some reason). a bulk trade including him would've been a fleecing for san jose especially since meier had the same draft pedigree and disappointing point production in his first season.

They gave up a first, a second that can become a first, a good young player (zetterland), and a guy who would be #2 prospect in most organizations. That's a fair bit.

It's the biggest return I can think of in a trade for a few years.

Yup. It just seems like the Devils got off easy b/c they got to keep their big prospects - Hughes, Nemec, Holtz. They gave up more than the Yotes gave up to acquire Taylor Hall from the Devils a few tears ago.

What?

Eichel fetched a 1st, 2nd, Tuch, Krebs in 2021.

Way to go GRIER.. you’re officially the worst GM in all of professional sports after this “trade” in fact I wouldn’t even call this a trade.. you just handed away your best player for some change. Not ONE top 5 Devils prospect back in return. NOT A SINGLE ONE. What a F*****ing JOKE! Forget the Draft picks… that 2023, 25-30th overall is more likely to be a fluke then it is to be a top 6 F/D..

Andreas Johnsson .. really?! Why? Does our AHL team need some mediocre 29 year old upcoming UFA for some reason?

This trade would’ve been acceptable for EK65 because he’s older and his contract is ridiculous but not for a top 10 NHL winger.. 26 year old.. point per game player and future 50 goal scorer! Grier needs to bounce Asap. He used to work for the Devils and is 100% doing them some kind of favor here.

A few lottery tickets. No sure things. Devils kept their top 4 prospects in Hughes, Nemec, Casey and Holtz.

Not easy being a Sharks fan after giving away Burns with retention in the offseason.

Dont worry!
Oilers got Cody Ceci, Jesse Puljujarvi, the popcorn guy, and some cockroaches in the pipes at Rogers Place that flood the city but we saved some roaches without the filters for you Sharks fans.

All for EK65 with retention.

Cheer up Sharks fans.

Think Devils win. Good for them to get more than Meier back for that Holtz-less package.
Honestly, I thought It'd be something like Meier(50% retained) for Holtz, Mukhamadullin, Johnsson, '23 1st, '24 3rd.
But the actual trade works out a lot better than that for them.

This is probably what it would have been if Meier came extended

I was wondering about the eichel return. Tuch was not as good in Vegas as he has been in Buffalo.

Fairly similar I suppose (though that may be as I've never been all that high on Krebs).

That's the thing. I think people are more upset about what they didnt trade, but that's more a sign of how awesome their prospect pool is than a representation of the actual trade

I feel hes gonna take a Tkachuck deal 9.5mill x 8 years

I think he'll get around 9m and that's what his camp apparently said the starting value was. He will want to stay in NJ ... for the team not the city lol. Hischier, Hughes, playoffs. I think he'll give a bit of a discount to hold onto that

Krebs was the centerpiece of that trade. Tuch is better than Eichel.

what a STEAL for New Jersey. That fact they didn't have to give up Mercer or Holtz or any of their A-Tier prospects is a massive win.

Grier is really proving he's one of the worst GMs in the league. Has he won a trade yet?

No besides the colorado trade which is just depth players because they have actually played for the sharks

Realizing that NJD got the best player in Meier, but SJS not only got future help in young D, but I see that Mr Havelid is back off of the injured list out of the SHL. They have first round plus's to acquire young forwards. making transitions. Good luck Mr Grier.

Yes, I am. And krebs was the centerpiece. I have the inside scoop. Kevyn Adams was not doing a trade with Vegas if it did not include Krebs.

And for the record:

Tuch 100 points
Eichel 68

Yeah that is the part that upset me

SJ really could use that retention on moving other players since they're blowing it up. They have one more now 😵

They did a cap friendly trade for real

No they didn't ...All I saw on CapFriendly was people trading 3-4 former/future 1sts.

Is it even mathematically possible for the Devil's 2023 pick to be a top 2 as of time of this trade.

not happy about this - Sharks could fetch a better return

1st + Zetterlund -> OK
Okhotiuk + Mukhamadullin -> oh, No (I'd better go for Boqvist, Foote or Stillman)
