Poile is going out with a bang. That is a great deal for Nashville, especially considering the down year Jeannot is having. Obviously there is upside with Jeannot, but man, that is a huge price. That being said, as a Leafs fan I am not looking forward to playing against Tampa's Paul, Jeannot, Colton third line. I can already feel my hatred for him brewing.

Am I missing something here Tampa? Jeannot is having a terrible year and you just paid a premium for him. This package is better than the ROR trade and close to the Meier one...tf

I stopped doubting Tampa a long time ago. I assume they will recoup the later round picks at least in the summer if they can't/don't want to keep Jeannot. He fits their exact need

Colton - Paul - Jeannot is a good way to round out their Top 9

Cap space cost an arm and a leg when you're constanly playing over 86 million. Jeannot's contract is a deal just like Hagel so the cost is going to be through the roof cause other teams know their cap situation.
We need to understand now that Tampa trades for cap hit, not for players.

Everyone is gonna chirp this trade for Tampa because of the huge costs, but let’s not forget Brisbois has been excellent at identifying guys like this in the passed and overpaying what it seems at the time, but the trades end up working out for TBL. Think Hagel, Coleman, goodrow.

I’ll call it a win win because I trust Brisbois at assessing players.

Jeannot is a RFA after this season and will get paid. This isn't at all comparable to the Hagel deal
