What a bad trade

Created by: themostleaf33
Team: 2022-23 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 26, 2023
Published: Feb. 26, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So confused about what Tampa is trying to accomplish with this. 5 draft picks for a bottom 6 forward who has hit 20 goals ONCE at 25 years old. I understand he is an RFA, but this is absolutely ridiculous.

This team just threw away their future, but I guess you can do that after back to back cups. Would be nice...

every one was saying that also after the hagel trade, worked nice for them in the end, lets wait a bit before judging this one.

The Hagel trade made sense tho. He was 23 years old and having a great year on an awful Chicago team. This makes no sense. Jeannot is 25 years old. He has hit 20 goals once. He was having a horrid year. I don't get why you give up 5 draft picks and a useful young defenceman. Kinda seems like they are forcing something here.

TB doesn't go b2b without the Coleman and Goodrow trades he's locked the core future of this team a long time that's a ludicrous statement. 4years as GM 2Cups and a Finals appearance and trades he made were big parts of all three runs Goodrow and Coleman were absolutely integral of the championship runs Savard was a big part of 21 while Paul and Hagel were a major part of Last seasons run. . All he does is put his team in position to make deep playoff runs the horrors.
Btw when was the last time Toronto played a second round game that's right 2004 the Lightning have won 3 Cups been to 2 others and 3 other conference finals since then. 3straight Cup final appearances I'll trust he knows a LOT MORE THAN you all day every day.

... And the Coleman deal... and the Goodrow deal... and the Savard deal.

When they decide that they like a guy they will pay whatever price in futures to get him. It's probably nice having such a strong core that you only feel the need to tinker around the edges.

Tampa is good as is though. Why 5 draft picks. Nobody is denying how good this team is, but 5????? Plus Cal Foote? It just seems so unnecessary. I'll eat my words if Jeannot turns into a 30+ goal scorer for the rest of his career but this is just insane imo.

I like this a lot for Tampa. The only picks that matter are the 1st and the 2nd. Jeannot is a hitting machine who has a scoring touch. His game will rebound.

Yeah of course. Its Tampa. You don't get to the finals 3 years in a row as a bad team. This just seems sooooo unnecessary, especially when they could've gone after a guy like Nierdereiter, who played for Nashville, for just a 2nd and a later round pick to beat out the Jets.

They had to loose salary to take any . Brisebois has said he felt he needed to get a little tougher up front and felt he had 10 NHL quality defenseman. In other words they could afford to loose one Footer just seemed to be off man out Nashville wasn't taking Myers back. Fluery what will be under league minimum contract next year will help.

Can't guarantee that though. If he slots into the top 6 though I guess its possible.

I wouldn't even be surprised tbh. This isn't a horrible player to get, the amount they gave up just make sense. Never said Toronto was gonna beat them.

well, ypu need to have vision as a gm too, cant always get the guys who have succes, you have to get the guys that struggles somewhere but think would perform well on your team. maybe this will be a horrible trade, maybe jeannot will be a mey part for abother cup, who knows.

He won't be top 6 that'll either be
38-21-86. 71-61-17 or
91-21-86. 38-71-17
Think the third line is 79-20-TJ

they all played well against the habs! i just felt he was the worst of a very solid defenseive corp on that playoff run, in the end it worked out for them!

I guess my point was it basically took some time to get used to playing with Victor Hedman not always as easy as one might think.

Perry, Maroon, Hagel and now Jeannot? He doesn't need to score he just needs to help those guys make Toronto and everyone else's lives miserable.
