Schenn has value to teams. Kerfoot has no value to teh Canucks. He would be purely a cap dump

Kerfoot has zero value to the Canucks. We can just trade Schenn for a pick

The Canucks will get a better pick if they retain on Kerfoot and trade him than if they trade Schenn to a contender

Kerfoot 50% retained is good value. Canucks could find a taker and get a 2nd.

If a 3 team deal can be made with the Canucks getting say a 2nd and 5th for Kerfoot retained then I’d do it. But not if we trade Schenn for Kerfoot then have to find a third team to trade Kerfoot to in a separate trade

So the leafs have too many defencemen and now you trade for another who now would be on their 5th pairing?

Schenn has zero value to the leafs, why would they trade anything for him? He wouldn't even be the 2nd choice now of they had a top 6 injury

Depth.

Injuries happen. Schenn is a good veteran pro who can step in if needed.

Except that hes literally 8th on the depth chart on his best day and he cant step into anything but a 6th defender role

And he'll fill that role admirably if required.

If the Leafs go 3 or 4 rounds deep in the playoffs an 8th D will be called upon. I'd prefer that be Schenn than a kid.

Neat, Vancouver can have a 6th for him then.

That's the value of Kerfoot at his full price

Kerfoot is significantly more valuable than a 6th. If you didn't know who he was or played for you'd say a middle 6 forward who is good defensively and can play c and wing was worth a 2nd easily.

Yes, they do, and thats why they're not dumb enough to think schenn is worth more than either player

Playoff scouts would think so.
