DET should leverage its cap space

Created by: Random2152
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 27, 2023
Published: Feb. 27, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm realising as I make this that its basically just taking advantage of Vancouver's stupidity - which is generally good business

Also thought about nabbing Garland since the rumour is he is going to be bought out, but couldn't easily make it fit

Values can be tweaked, but frankly with how the NHL is all about money these days compared to actual player value I think we're all flying blind

They should have for the last couple seasons but they don't want to spend the money evidently

They are a big market team. I understand Arizona, or Anaheim not being overly keen, but Detroit is O6 and makes bank. Ownership should be ashamed for not better utilising their assets

It's a new building, they haven't been to the playoffs in 7 years and COVID. They aren't printing money anymore like it's the 90s.

Take out everything but the third from boston - still iffy because i doubt the bruins have any interest in the first place.

Foligno has been better than bertuzzi this year. Value wise this is about as far off as I’ve ever seen

    Boston declines.
Would probably be closer to a two 1sts (if we're using Jeannot to do anything).

Why is bertuzzi getting more than meier? Bertuzzi has been awful this year. At least jeannot is good at what he does. Bertuzzi wouldn’t get a first from anyone.

Because you are putting in a major cap dump, and depending on who you ask this really isn't more than Meier. Frankly in order for that to be true the Meier trade needs to bust from every part for SJ

Major cap dump? What year do you think this is. Foligno has been great this season. Better than bertuzzi by a significant margin

Canucks are not going to pay all those assets to dump Myers, especially when he might be our only NHL caliber RHD at the end of the season

Honestly not certain he is NHL calibre.
Also it would be in line with the stupid things your management team does

Management has been pretty good with trades. Other than the JT Miller signing, they haven't really made any stupid moves
