Of the four options you've listed, Edmundson's back is all screwed up, Ekholm would cost a fortune (reported ask starts with two 1sts), and Chychrun will cost even more. Gavrikov is probably the smartest move for Edmonton, particularly considering that they need a left-shot D more than a right shot.

ya that's not a bad opinion at all. You are giving up some player quality if you don't get Chyc or Ekholm but also costing you a lot less. I think part of it depends on what the Oil think they want to do with their D for next year. Because Nurse and Kulak are back for sure. So depends if they want Broberg getting a consistent lineup spot on the left side or what. The right side is locked up as well unless they move Barrie.

Depending on the cost, I think they should try to get Chychrun and Gavi. Pretty sure either of them can play the right side if need be and Gavrikov could be worked into the lineup for 700K when double retained. So long as it doesn't completely break the bank I think they should take the risk because nobody is taking any risks in the west at all to load up so far.
