I might be in the minority here, but I'd be upset about this if I were CHI fans.
Kane handcuffed them, they got less of a return that some other less valuable players that got moved.
I don't know, I could be way off, but I'd be pissed if I were CHI.
Sure but anyone who was paying attention knew he wasn't going to get a dragon haul that some on CF suggested. I think the only ones who'd be upset are the ones who don't understand how modern nhl trades work wrt nmc's and large contracts

I'm willing to bet this move will make a few GM's rethink some contracts they give out in the future. Tough to see.
Everyone is saying the Rangers won this deal... myself included. However, there's a chance Kane doesn't bounce back in New York and he's actually a liability on the ice. That could be true.
For everyone saying Hawks had no leverage. I call BS. They had the player. They didn’t have to trade him. Davidson just couldn’t help himself. He could’ve at any point in time said prospect and a 1st or no deal. And if NYR said they didn’t want to pay it then Davidson should say “have fun in the Eastern playoffs! Lol” and hang up.

Always a possibility of course. **** he could get rocked/concussed game 1 as well. BUT…odds are he’s a PPG player and a PP1 specialist on the RW.

kane wanted to go to a contender, and he's done so much for the franchise -- i think davidson was in a tough position there because on one hand, he could've refused to trade kane, but it would've been a not-so-great look, so he went with getting whatever he could get
Chicago: Gets 1st + other assets for a player who has been terrible this year.
Rangers: Not sure what version of Kane we're getting this year. He's been terrible all year. Has shown his previous potential this year at times, but has been super shaky and not interested. Worth the risk, back could backfire on them.

Hate to keep quoting you here, but I was thinking the same thing. I'd almost be willing to say screw it you're staying just out of spite.
But then you're the GM who created a sour relationship with one of your franchises icon's, and he likely walks for free. Hate to be Davidson in this position.

Giroux was a nearly identical situation last deadline (franchise icon, pending UFA, full NMC, only one rumored destination) and even Chuck friggin' Fletcher got a deal that blows this one away. This just feels completely underwhelming to me.

Ehh, it only looks like that in hindsight thanks to Tippet developing nicely.
I think though that the trick to doing well is to grab a young guy like Tip who has upside but is currently down on value and working on deving them
