Quick and Kane traded within less than 24 hours. Truly the end of an era.

I love Gav for LA, Korpi should be decent as well. Good trade on paper, but the disrespect to Quick is harsh. Hopefully he is flipped to a contender, wish he would've retired a King

Fine for LA. Obviously the ask for Chychrun was too much and there's not immediate commitment to Gavrikov so they don't need to give up any major assets apart from the picks.

Quick was very likely just to make the money work. Could get flipped to a playoff team.

Yes it's cruel to dump Quick at this stage of his career, but he has been brutal this year. He's a AHL goalie and you dont want that in your roster in playoffs

It's about time this trade made it up here. I wonder what the delay was.

It will be weird seeing quick in another uniform

Risky deal for LA, if Korpisalo can't get his game back, this might be awful, the conditions make it more stomachable tho
Good for Columbus

If in 2017 you would’ve told me that Laine, Gaudreau, and Quick would end up in Ohio, I wouldn’t have believed you.

Objectively? Fair deal.

LAK get an upgrade in net, and some solid D depth for the playoffs helps as well, not to mention they get first dibs at negotiations if things work out. In a wide-open Western Conference, this was the move to make.

CBJ still end up with their (conditional) 1st, 3rd, save $3M (pro-rated) in actual cash, don't have to retain, and get a veteran G to finish out the season and let Tarasov stay in the AHL for a little while longer. Some word going around CBJ may flip him somewhere for an asset if he pulls a Fleury which, if true, great. If not, still works.

Subjectively? Yeah man, Quick was kind of done dirty. Understand why he was upset.

Poor Quick. Two Cups and tens of millions of dollars. He could have signed a shorter contract but was happy to collect the fat paycheck well past his prime. Would never have been traded if he had been playing to the value of his contract.

CBK easily lose courtesy of the Bruins. They get less back than they were slated to for Gavi and Olivier. Even discounting Olivier and the 2nd round pick BOS paid for a 4th liner, CBJ take back a pouting cap dump and include the top rental G w/o any added return.

Quick won’t end up in Ohio. His tantrum will see to that.

Columbus held up the Boston trade because they didn’t want to take money back only to end up with a lesser offer and still take back money.

Quick sentiments aside, this is a great trade for LA. I thought it would have taken more than that to get Gavrikov and Korpisalo, who really seems to have his game back. The 1st-round pick isn’t even guaranteed, though I think the playoff teams in the west are set now with Nashville in sell-off mode and Calgary apparently unable to put any kind of push together. It’ll look a little better for Columbus if they can flip Quick, but I don’t think they’ll get much for him with the season he’s having and his cap hit, even with 50% retention. Of course, with all these players being pending UFAs, anything Columbus can get for them is better than nothing. I’m just surprised there wasn’t enough interest for them to get more.

I think the Ohio team wins this trade. To bad Quick's gone. Wasn't the best way for him to go.

Most of fans hates contracts where players have NTC and NMC. After this trade, veterans will see this conditions as must have in their future deals.

I don't even like the trade that much for LAK and not because of how they traded Quick.

It's just I would not give up a 1st for Gavrikov.

The disrespect of the Kings trading Quick is unreal

The worst part is that he has to go to Ohio

I voted Columbus solely because of how LA treated Jonathan Quick. I get it, he's having a bad season and they needed cap space, but still! Lost some respect for Rob Blake.

Pick quality has to be considered between the Boston and LA deal. Boston's pick was locked into the worst possible slot for whichever round they finish in and is guaranteed to be at best 24th OA but much more likely 28th or worse. Kings are more of a toss up for the first round so the Jackets could end up with a pick in the 19-22 range instead. If the top asset makes the best deal then I'm taking this deal over the Boston deal 100%.
