I'd actually hate to see him go, as he's played well, and played better than most of us hoped he would, and deserves not to have to relocate again, and with Klingberg and Shattenkirk expiring, we could probably use him next season, and especially if that's the picayune return.

Looks like we're going to find out in the next 24 hours...both Klinger and Kulikov held out for trade related reasons...

How close are the guys like Mintyukov/Zellweger/Hinds? Because Robin Salo is NHL-capable and signed through next year and seems odd man out on the Island, and would be a decent stopgap to avoid rushing those guys up if they're not ready. I think he's got decent enough value to count as a solid return for the right team; obviously, if 2 of those 3 guys are NHL-ready next year, though, the Ducks wouldn't see him that way.

I would give them both another year, especially in light of the fact that right now, the only NHL-quality defensemen we have under contract for next season are Cam Fowler and the recovering Jamie Drysdale (Simon Benoit is only a third-pairing d-man at best), and rookie defensemen need to get sheltered minutes. (Tobias Bjornfot is a case in point of what happens to a youngster's confidence when you make him cannon fodder.) Salo seems like an excellent addition.

It is so funny to me that Kulikov is thought of in a positive light, most Jets fans couldn't stand him and thought he sukked!.. lol

Context can be a disquieting prism.
