A bit higher than Horvat. It makes sense.

Pretty sure Larkin caved in or Yzerman would had no choice but trade him in the next 48h.

IMO, this is a terrific signing. Hometown kid, captain, selke candidate. Could have easily commanded 9 mil in FA.

Detroit was without 2 of their top 6 forwards for most of the season and they are still in the hunt for a wild card spot. I think that says a lot more about leadership than the last 2 games does.

Vasilevskiy is the reason they lost that TB game. He made 45 saves and at least 15 were impressive.

I would argue that coaching adjustments through out the year and more veterans on the team helped more so. That's still doesn't excuse getting bent over by Ottawa twice and having to pay them money. Spare me with the excuses, every team gets hit with the injury bug. This team is improving, just leave it at that and hope they continue on the upward trajectory.

This is a pretty good contract, when it’s done it’ll probably be seen as bad, but it’s very good as of right now.

I imagine anyone who votes "no" is just looking to stir the pot, this is great value for their 1C.

This is a great contract for this year. With the cap going up, this will become an amazing contract.

The AAV seems fair, and it looks like a sensible contract. It runs until he’s 34 which means they’re not sticking themselves with a bunch of his declining years, and it has a 10-team trade list in the last 3 years, in case they’re out of contention and want to try to get something for him in the final year.

It must be this. I can't understand why Larkin would get this close to testing the market then cave. Yzerman must have said those two words no free agent wants to hear right now: Winnipeg Manitoba

It's a matter of perspective. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins signed an 8 year contract 2 years ago for just over 5 million.

Larkin: 563, 169-246-415 (0.737 PPG) -89
RNH: 656, 185-293-478 (0.729 PPG) -48

I like the player just fine, but Larkin's no superstar.

Fair but RNH has also had playing time with McJesus and Leon. If D Larks was playing with either of those two, I bet his numbers would be a bit higher.

No it doesn't but at the start of the season with the additions Ottawa made I thought they were a playoff team for sure. By no means did Detroit play well against Ottawa but if watched those games you can't take anything away from Ottawa they looked really good. It took longer than I thought but you don't want to peak too early and they wouldn't have added Chychrun if they didn't think they had a chance. As for as the coaching changes where were they against Ottawa? So when the team does poorly it's Larkin's fault but when the team does well it's the coaching.

No. But if you look through the season as the wings were finding there way, they made some good changes like pairing maatta and hronek, and then walman/Seider became a revelation. Mixed with Perrons poise and some additonal aspects.

Larkin is a good player and can be great but his attitude, when the wings are getting pumped, shows up and he becomes a ghost. I need to see the Larkin that will dive through ardvinssons legs to stop an empty netter more.

I would for sure put some blame on Yzerman for not acquiring that rigid power forward (Sunquist is underwhelming) yet like he's done in the past, bc this team is softer than Freddie mercury at the playboy mansion. But I trust Stevie so I'm not concerned too much yet

Larkin is expected to lead this team, RNH can hide behind McDavid and Drai.
