Wow. I really like this for the Canucks. They finally got their Hughes partner.

Edit: Detroit obviously made out pretty good here too. Think it's pretty fair overall.

Vancouver - Get's a very good 2nd pairing defender that has a good contract for 2 more years. Price is fair for that caliber of a player.
Detroit - Get's a first + 2nd round pick for a guy who's not really needed with their top 4 locked up for the foreseeable future.

This would make sense if the teams roles were reversed, but Vancouver is rebuilding and Detroit is playoff hunting.. so wtf is this trade?

A new top 4 Dman... 2 years too late for Vancouver.

Hronek will be a good pairing mate for Hughes, but man it's so much value. Looking at it like pick 18 and pick 40 for a guy whos good but also 25 and hasn't shown that he's even close to elite

Are the Wings officially giving up on the postseason? I'm baffled by this move tbh.

Weird way to celebrate extending Larkin.

Interesting move...either VAN just found their Hughes partner for the near future, or DET just capitalized on what may be an aberration of a season. Or they don't want to pay what he may command in a year.

Man I like Hronek but not at that price… if we were contending it’s a different story but hopefully we can recoup some picks by trading Boeser and/or Miller

Ok so VAN found a partner for Hughes nice.

However, if VAN is still a bottom team next year this is a massive overpay.

Espacially considering Hronek can walk in the 2024 offseason.

As a Canucks fan, I'm now cheering for the Islanders to go deep in the payoffs.

On a side note, if you look at the actual numbers, the Canucks gave up a NHL regular's worth of draft picks for a NHL regular RD. That's a fair deal.

WOW! The Canucks will literally do anything to avoid a rebuild!
Chychrun to the Red Wings Maybe? They have the assets to do it.

I think it's fair but I also see this aging very poorly for Vancouver feels like a possible statistical outlier imo. Also Vancouver will suck again next year imo.

Do the Canucks realize their 2nd this year will be a borderline 1st-rounder?
