This trade has lots of factors but in the end its up to Chycrun to deliver

As while hes been good the injury history is a concern along with his ability to play RD full time (as he does his best work on the left)

Absolutely flabbergasted that is all it took to get Chychrun… i get that for NHL teams dealing with the financials is a reality but to already be a payroll bottom feeder and still not be able to take back even money for a reasonable cap hit is terrible. And to take the return that prioritizes the money over the trade return is a yikes

Two 1sts was the absolute minimum they should have gotten in a return. Even the rumored equivalent of three 1sts was very much attainable at one point.
This is a total disaster of asset management.
Thankfully for Chychrun (and all of us), it's finally over.

Two points:

1.) Given the average value for a draft pick by round, Ottawa gave up 1.4 NHL regulars for a good, but not great D-man.
2.) Arizona's on-ice cap hit is barely more than $40 million at this point. They will need to ADD to hit the floor next season, because they are losing some of their LTIR cap hit.

Now I REALLY wish that we had hung onto our 2023 first and added some more to our Gavrikov/Korpisalo offer . . . couldn't an A prospect have shifted that pick into 2024?
