Most TDL acquisitions underperform. No Stanley cup is won this week. Cheer up!
Yeah but it's not about the players it's about the direction and message. If the team shows that they aren't confident in buying to improve the team why do the players want to play for a team that doesn't believe in them with a major addition included?
Players like scheifele, wheeler, Hellebuyck, Dillon and demelo all expire in 2024 and if they don't like the direction of the team they can leave for nothing and leave the jets in a really rough spot (think of the 2019 blue jackets).
The team needs to have an identity on where it's going and right now it's just floating around in mid territory not choosing either all in or out.
Ik the price for the deadline is massive and would be wise to make more moves like nino just can't afford to have the team leave in 2 years for Nothing.
Why not capitalize on what you have and do a retool like Nashville? They know that they don't have a winning formula currently but also understand that the key guys are there and build around them. If we aren't gonna add to the group in a meaningful manner why try to compete when the likelihood of playoff success is low?
I'm fully on team retool rn as we can't afford to go into a deep rebuild or all in next year. If we go all in we can lose more than the blue jackets did. But if we rebuild why not tear it all down right if it's gonna be 3 years plus?
Overall I'm just sick and tired of the team just constantly getting my expectations up over and over thinking that the team will be different. This is just the same team every year being so passive that players know that not just the teams location is why they don't want to come here but knowing the direction is unknown.
