Finally, Boston had to pay someone market value.

Good for Pasta getting his pay day.

Great signing, Pasta knows how to find the back of the net and he performs well no matter who he is lined up with.

Bruins keeping a star like him help with FA and players retention, to me 11,25m for 8 years won’t age bad, is a good contract not a still but a bit better than fair value

What an absolute steal for what he brings to the team one of the better wingers in the league and a huge part of Boston's Success.

You give superstars this type of contract 10 times out of 10

13,64% of the cap ceiling at signing but how much does he really contribute to help his team winning? Certainly more than that

It's a fair contract I suppose ... but he's the 2nd highest paid winger in the NHL.

I don't think anyone could call this "AN ABSOLUTE STEAL" with a straight face.

Good for Pastrnak.

Fair deal, but 100% would have gotten more on the open market. Next year is going to be a tight one for the Bruins, but they're all in this season.

Gotta get rid of that Reilly and Wagner contract.

I mean, maybe you should hold onto them?

What happened to the 'Players taking under to stay in Boston' narrative? IDL this signing bc Pasta isn't a top 10 player in this league but if in your opinion he is, than you view it as a great trade

Roughly Panarin money on a quite similar player. Pasta has shown he can produce with anyone and drive a line by himself from the wing. What I like is that this "only" brings him to 34 years old, so there might be only 1 or 2 overpaid years on this contract, & that's a worst case scenario really.

I can’t argue against this. I’d like to, but I can’t. Good signing for both the player and the team. The only fault I can find is that it’s maybe one year too long, but if they didn’t give him that eighth year he probably could have got 7x$11.5-12M from some other team.

The guy is top 5 in scoring since he's in the league (2015) - behind Ovi, Matthews, McJesus and Draisaitl - and he is still only 26 y.o.!

Even Kane got 8x$10.5M eight years ago! Panarin got 8x$11.6M four years ago!

Who voted no on this!?!?!

Gotta hand it to Bergeron and Marchand, they signed team friendly deals & went to 3 Stanley cup finals. I voted no from a financial POV. It’s great their keeping Pasta around no doubt, but I think it’s too high of a cap for a team that wants to continue winning for the foreseeable future (without Bergeron)

Players who take a big home team discount are usually later in their careers and have already made big money. This is his time to cash in. He probably could have got more AAV on the open market, but he wouldn't have got the 8th year, so I wouldn't count that as taking less to stay in Boston.
