Value wise that’s a fair offer to boston - but why not just look at their roster? Not a fit.

If it were to somehow go through, which of course it wouldn’t - probably not a great idea to play the best RW on the team on the third line next to a couple of nobodies.

Hanifin is more valuable to us than JDB. Phillips is gone after this year, he will be a UFA

Would you do Tyce Thompson, 2023 2nd, 2023 4th for Backlund at 50% retained? If not 50% retained, what about 25% retained

U think JDs worth that much? feel like its a little overvalued there with 2 3rds and their top Dman going back, but this flames fan in the replies def has it wrong ^

Also imagine:
Hanafin-McAvoy
Lindholm-Carlo

gross top 4

I didn’t come close to saying that.

I think the top four with grzelcyk instead of Hanifin could be better.

I’m not saying any of that. What i said was what i said and it’s a pretty simple statement. Building a top four isn’t as simple as, “hey throw the best four guys you can find together.” Fit matters, balance matters, different skill sets matter.

Over the past three seasons mcavoy and grzelcyk have been arguably the best pair in the nhl. I think it’s kinda wild to assume you can improve upon that.

The simple statement is: we don’t know that hanifin provides an upgrade. Maybe he’s better, maybe he’s not. What they have works

oh so ur saying the chemistry between Mac and Grz has been top tier and replacing Grz with hanafin doesnt guarentee improvement

you can def improve upon that top pairing, offensively, defensively, and physically which is much more valueable come playoffs

What if they’re games don’t mesh? Again - this has been the defensive pair with the best claim to the title of best pair in the NHL over the past three seasons.

If it’s someone truly elite, sure. Its not.
