This is wild. Everyone next year will be super surprised when he struggles to hit 20 when in reality, that's all he is.

Hard to see that happening with Pettersson as his linemates. A lot of his goals are deflections/net front tap ins which inflate his shooting percentage. It’s not like he is getting super lucky shooting the puck. I think he will slow down to a 15-17% which could still net him 30 a season

How did the Leafs let the Canucks score 2 short handed goals and on the same powerplay? The worst penalty kill in the NHL scoring 2 short handed on you should be enough to fold your franchise

Jeez

What happened in the game before that? Because Stillman looked like he's doing his best to pick up an instigator penalty, then got rocked. In a game his team is up 3-1. Why go in that situation? Especially the way he so badly wanted it. Is he an idiot or am I missing badly needed context?

As a member of the "Quinn is Overrated" club, I must say beating Leech is quite impressive.

We're going to have to adapt to being on the PK more with the addition of more physicality in the lineup. Tampa and Boston have consistently been around the top 10 of PIM for years (this season tampa 5 and boston 11, toronto 22nd) cause there's going to be more scrums so more roughing penalties more instigators in response to big hits. No more just ZAR alone in scrums or gio jumping on guys' backs. This team needs to work on their penalty killing and use it as momentum. 1000% tampa and toronto is going to be in a bunch of scrums again but this year I predict a lot more fights breaking out. Gonna be a fun series to watch

Remember in playoffs guys like these wont be penalized as playoff games are different where physicality is encouraged

And Leafs have 0 issue PKing lul

Remember game 1 last year 5 min major they killed it and almost score 2 times short handed

The last series had a crazy amount of penalties but maybe that's just a one off cause round 2 the whistles went away. True scrums maybe not but I could see Maroon and Perry chirping with Accari and Schenn, tampa's lowkey dirty so now that we got guys willing to step up will they take that? I think Point fights sometimes, rarely stamkos, but sergachev, maroon, perry, jeannot, colton, paul, hagel, eyissmont vs McCabe, Schenn where i think he fought a lot during tampas run including matt martin, accari, o'reilly?, gio

Actual fights in playoffs go down.
A fighting instigator could put your team down for 2-min and even mucker-grinders don't want to sit for 5-min in a best of 7.

For sure scrums & "Why-I-Oughta's" go up to another level ^ ^ ^

Whistles went away game 5 games 1-4 penalties, 5-7 barely anything as thats playoffs

As thats how it works

In games 5 to 7 u need to either flip the puck over the glass, hit someone in the face with a stick, or to many men thats about it

Last Dance Equation

Basically

Know times coming up before guys retire + Division getting tougher = Need to win now

Or did the formula change

Jeannot laid a dirty hit from behind on one of the Lybushkin in the boards earlier.

Anyone else wonder if EDM buys out Campbell

Cap hit = $1,541,667 for 8 years but hey better than 5mill x 4 more years

This is the optimal solution.

The Oilers don't need to find a netminder to wint them games. They have the most offensively-gifted forward core in the league to do that. They need one that won't actively lose them games. Anything with a pulse and a save percentage a hair over .900 would be a massive upgrade.

One of the other blogs I frequent ran some numbers if Edmonton had Talbot - who on all accounts is underperforming in Ottawa - and the difference sees Edmonton with somehing like 88 points. This is an astronomically good team that's being let down by the actual worst regular goaltender in Oilers history.
