One can be skilled at playing defensively, or skilled at pulling the puck off the boards. But the turning the game back to a clogging, slow, muck-grinding affair where unskilled big bodies shut-out skilled athletes…would irreversibly harm, or potentially kill, the sport.

(Also, for the record, the history on the Devils is a little off. In the 1980s, they were mostly bad, other than one Cinderella run in 1988. In the early 1990s, they were an improving and mostly offensive team. By the 1994 season, they were 2nd in NHL in scoring. They deployed a trap in the 1995 playoffs that caught lots of people’s attention. They used again in 1996, but missed the playoffs, so it was phased out the following year. By 1997, it was fully scrapped, and over next five years, they were the 2nd highest scoring team in NHL.)

I just took it to mean you don't necessarily need highlight reel skills to be an effective player. Even around here there's an unrealistic expectation of players being p/g and an underappreciated of players that do the non-highlight reel heavy lifting that allows more skilled players to be effective or for your team to be in a position for those highlight reel goals to matter.
Lehkonen is hardly a "mucker", but was greatly unappreciated outside of Montreal until he went to Colorado, and is among the better examples.
Are you sure he's not simply talking about role players that lack that high end flashiness but work hard and do the little things right?

* Army's point is (and he has pee wee aged kids which I'm sure provides a lot of his narrative): NOT all kids that are required to feed the BIGS one-day are skilled to "Mc-Ja-sus"

In 10-yrs, if everyone is a "Trevor Zegras" - then it's over...!

So many fans of other teams were ready to write him off after 15 bad games while dealing with an injury, nice to see him come back and play like he did last season (well not completely nice as he’s hurting our chances at Bedard)

Anybody with me in saying Calgary is probably done after their loss to Arizona last night? I didnt watch the game, but after losing to Anaheim at home last week and now this loss, it feels like they won't make up the ground even though there's still 14 games left. They don't win the games they need to.

I don't understand why Woody keeps putting him and Nurse together, both have better numbers with out each other

also Ceci hasn't be as good as he was last year but he still has been fine

Is it crazy for me to think that the regular season is too long?

I wonder how the league would be if it played a pre-season tournament in bracket format, best of 3, all 32 teams. OR based on nationality)

The winner gets something idk.

Then a 48 game regular season with a 1 week break directly at 24 games for all star. Spread the games out, more on weekends.

Then playoffs as we know them.

it is way easier to market a tournament than a random regular season weeknight game.

I don’t see how a preseason 32 team tournament makes any sense at all, sure the league could maybe tinker a bit with the amount of games but making a whole 32 team preseason tournament means some teams will play a lot less preseason hockey which defeats the point of a preseason

I would reduce the preseason thats my one gripe with the reg season

Playoff format changes could be explored in the future especially now that we got 32 NHL teams

But as of now if I were to make a change just reduce preseason games from 7 to 4. 82 game season is fine as Baseball does 162, Basketball 82, not doing NFL as 17 games would bankrupt the league lul

Well, the purpose of the pre-season tournament is to keep revenue levels the same while reducing the total number of events. Those events would draw more demand than basic winter weekday evening.

Ultimately, the NFL does this best, every time they play it’s an event. Mostly one day a week, but then also there are names for games that aren’t on a Sunday.

By focusing the NHL regular season into 48 games slightly more spread out, the league would have less back to backs mid-week. Every team would play 2 of Friday, Saturday, Sunday every week. The schedule would look more like the AHL, who has to do this because they need the $.

The pre-season tournament comes with much more hype than Tuesday frozen December night in St. Louis, and ultimately would end with a final 4, then 2, showcasing those teams to the rest of the fans. Also, historically young skaters have fast starts, showcasing that as well.

No respect for his father either apparently.

Am I the only one wondering why there's an unoccupied wheelchair at the top of a fairly long flight of stairs?
I realize there's different levels of disability, maybe they need it to get to the bar before taking a table or something, no judgement for why there's a wheelchair at the bar without its owner. I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for that.
The location is simply bizarre. It's a fire hazard, it's not being monitored (anyone could take it and just leave), and it's not secured.
Surely there's a coat check or a storage area you could ask to use?
