McDavid has 60

Not impressed. Even I would score 60 goals playing on the same team as Warren Foegele

I don't see why he's a buy low option, CBJ drafted him 2 years ago, he's only 19, CBJ's not moving him and certainly not at a loss

You are 100% right, Columbus shouldn't sell him, but I think he showed us last year what he could do and this year he's not even NHL caliber. His value this year is a lot lower than it was last year, but the price would still be a premium for him.

It would probably have to be more than "some assets". Probably your 2023 first, Chesley, McMichael ++

Think Keller is a franchise level player for them. They should have 0 interest in trading him.

CBJ made a mistake letting him make the team last season. He should have been in the AHL, but I still think he’ll end up being a good 2C. Doubt CBJ trades him

My theory is that expansion brings substantial changes to the game; obstruction or scoring, depending on if refs let skilled players skate.

There are 46 new NHL roster positions since Vegas joined. If a decade of expansion occurs with Houston, Quebec, etc, that number goes up. Had Vegas/Seattle not joined, there would be 46 more people in the AHL. The bar for all positions slowly creeps down, and the strength of the outstanding skater is magnified.

The quantity of skilled players cannot increase until the new franchises establish development cycles. This takes quite awhile, perhaps a decade or more.

Yep the talent pool is diluted so it's easier to score. Which honestly might be why they are encouraging expansion sorta. For the new hockey fan it's a lot cooler to see insane statlines

Resigning Rielly and trading Sandin out later on could go down as Dubas's biggest mistake ever.

It would be a not buy at all option, because Columbus has no reason to give up on him given he is still cheap and 19 YO. The only way CBJ trades him is for an impact player.

They made a mistake in starting him in the NHL Right away, where there is much less room for error, temporarily stunting his growth in the short term.

He never should've been in the NHL as an 18 y.o. Very counterproductive, imo.

I mean do we want to wait for Sandin to turn into something or do we want to win a cup. No true contender got time to wait these days. If u can move a prospect get a good asset do it.

Like look at the last 5 games for Sandin in DC in top 4 mins

0
-2
-4
-3
-2

4 assists -11

If he was doing that in Toronto rn people would be screaming for the pressbox and against Tampa stuff like that aint gonna cut it. He struggles against hard forecheck teams and in a playoff run we got Tampa, Boston, and Carolina all of whom play that type of game. Meanwhile since the trade Rielly has started getting his act together only having one bad performance his last 5 games.

Wish him well but if we go by recent performance especially playoffs Rielly got the advantage and for a team wanting a cup rn u go with the vet. If he was able incorporate better defense like Liligren and handle those tough shutdown assignments he would still have been here but he couldnt. Either way we want a cup so sacrifices must be made. Plus knowing Dubas he will just draft another Sandin as he has been on a role these past few drafts.

Sandin wouldn't be -11 in 5 games on the Leafs, even if Murray was in goal for every game. His offensive numbers will drop considerably w/ Carlson back in the lineup (Two of his 5A came on the PP). His TOI will drop. His O-zone starts will decrease. His exposure to WASH's top talent will decrease, as well.

Dubas isn't concerned about the future right now. He needs to win to save his job. Trading Sandin was necessary. Whether nor not Dubas got an appropriate ROI is debatable.

Job concern lets be honest is not on Dubas's priority list as if it was that Boston 1st would have been gone as why keep it when your trying to win. Heck he didnt even have to trade Sandin. Had the cap space to keep him but did it anyways

We all know even if hes let go hes gonna end up in either on one of the either the Penguins, Flyers, Flames, or Senators as their new GM. Honestly Leafs should give him an extension as there are teams biting at the bit for him and losing him at this key time could really hurt things down the road. Hes built a good team they just have playoff issues but at this point what more can he do lul

As for Sandin hes gonna be playing 2nd pair minutes with DC and that still is a tough job. Whole thing with him was silly as for one week it was look at this, now its just crickets lul. Either way wish him well but in a 7 game series vs. Tampa I would be nervous with him as rookie mistakes especially on the back end can be series enders.
