IMO the Habs won't trade assets for PLD. I think they'll bank on him choosing to sign in Montreal once the retool/rebuild is further along.

Montreal is not trading both Dach and the Panthers 1st, pick 1 and we will build a package around that. If you choose the Cats 1st we will include Barron and Dvorak. If you choose Dach it will be Barron and a 2nd

Honestly, this is why we have these posts. Thanks for the great feedback. Id take the latter. But knowing where Montreal stands with RD prospects, would you rather replace barron for someone else? Or maybe another 2nd or something? Or maybe Dach, Dvorak, 2nd for Dubois + Stanley or smth else?

Don't know why you got your panties all in a bunch, basically we were in agreement that the Habs aren't giving both Dach and the Panthers 1st for PLD, even the OP knew it was too much. I was just providing a counter offer for discussion purposes, as opposed to the ridiculous notion that the Habs won't trade for anything for PLD and would just wait for him to hit FA. To be quite frank, I get your opinion on not wanting to give up assets for a player rumored to be wanting to come to the Habs but the fact of the matter remains that given the choice of waiting and moving a few assets for PLD, Hughes likely chooses to trade for him. Getting a great player that instantly improves your team is worth more than the potential of a prospect that may never work out. I would love to keep Dach and would do my best to do so but PLD is by far the better player right now, so yeah I would move Dach to acquire PLD.

Montreal will only make a deal for PLD on a sign and trade. And yes I can see MTL giving up Florida 1st round pick and guy like Dvorak or Anderson plus a mid-range forward and defense prospect. Dach isn't going anywhere if i'm montreal. He is too young on a favourable deal and is producing really well considering how terrible they are playing. Montreal has a lot of good youn defensman to buil a new solid young core that can play together ofr years. So I wouldnt give any of them up. If I am montreal I'd take a deal for PLD and give up Dvorak, prospect and the FLA 1st in return. You get a franchise french player that is a bonafide 1 one centre and you have studs at 1 & 2 line centre and your 3rd line cnetre is now darby. If I am the Jets, I take Dvorak. Jets are in this weird inbetween in contention but because of expiring deals, also rebuilding. Take on dvorak plus the pick plus mid range prospects, and if not in contention by next trade deadline, you fire sale. That means, Schiflie, Wheeler, Helly, Nino, Dillon, Demelo, Barron & even Dvorak are all gone for picks and prospects. I wouldnt trade Ehlers nor Connor yet unless you get a huge haul in return. And unfortunetly Jets are stuck with Poink and Schmidt. Keep Appleton and Lowry until contracts expire. Gritty fan favourite bottom 6 guys.
