Canes likely aren't going to pay that much in terms of money or assets for a dude that isn't certain of being their 1RW over Martin Necas. Yes, Nylander is producing more but Carolina also requires a certain degree of a defensive structure that Nylander just doesn't have enough of. Plus, Necas may actually be the fastest skater in the NHL. I think someone will pay this for him and the value is fine, I think the destination is wrong.

I find it difficult to believe Robertson will bring back that return. He hasn't shown he can stick around in the NHL due to health problems. You might get a mid round pick for someone to gamble on him, but you won't get a 2nd.

Don’t think the Canes target Nylander. There is his, to put it bluntly, his incapability defensively, but the bigger problem would be that when he is due for his contract extension, most of the Canes core is due at the point as well (Aho, Jarvis, Necas, Skjei, Pesce, Turbo are all big pieces that will need to be signed). The Canes are already looking at trying to sign Jarvis and Necas this off season, adding Nylander to the mix doesn’t make sense.
