Moves I wouldnt mind seeing

Created by: Lancebmx
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Mar. 5, 2023
Published: Mar. 5, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Not likely to happen but I wouldn't mind seeing something like this happen this offseason.

Free agents are really lacking this year and the worth while options likely aren't options for us.

RFA signings in 2024 offseason
Seider 8 x 8M
Raymond 3 x 5.5M
Durzi 6 x 4.5M
Rasmussen 4 x 3.5M
Berggren 3 x 3.25M
Grundstrom 2 x 1.75M

Tried to address vacancies at 2C and RHD while acquiring right handed shooters and some extra toughness.

  1. Veleno, Joseph [RFA Rights]
2.

  1. Durzi, Sean
  2. Grundström, Carl
  3. Petersen, Cal
Additional Details:
Would LA consider this? I feel the value to dump Peterson would be more than a 1st. Durzi probably worth around a first. Throwing in Grundstrom saves them a bit more cap.
LAK
3.
DET
  1. Konecny, Travis
Additional Details:
Probably unlikely to be moved but someone I would target. Value might need to be tweaked a bit, maybe a mix of some of our prospects.

I just don't see Yzerman buying guys. I doubt LA would but maybe. Pay Ned as little as you like they don't think he's an nhl goalie.

Kings will likely give Petersen another shot to win back his net. At this point Durzi is worth 1st rounder+, and will stay with the team until it’s clear Clarke and Spence are upgrades from him.

I thought so as well, wouldn't make sense for us to pay for than this for him. Could see other teams beating that offer.

I actually forgot to sign an UFA goalie lol. I planned on having him in the minors.

The only reason I would argue against you is the 8.7M in cap space and need to find a starting goaltender, resign vilardi, and maybe Gavrikov plus filling in the rest of the roster. Also the abundance in RHD likely means losing Durzi wouldn't hurt as much.

Durzi costs $1.7M, his contract is much better for the Kings. If they are so needy to move space Arvidsson and Iafallo can be moved as the Kings forward group is also stacked but more expensive.

I agree. Just hoping to fill the void with a good player by using the cap space. I think Iafallo would be tougher to move but not impossible. I would also be interested in acquiring Walker but not with the cost of taking Peterson. I feel like both Spence and Clarke could easily make the team next year and likely should both be on the team.

Centres I would go after even I had Stevie’s job (no I’m not saying I’m Yzerman)

1 Elias Pettersson (aim high)

2 Elias Lindholm (much more realistic option to target)

3 Mark Schiefele ( he’s not everyone favourite but the guy can score and at his age right before free agency he wouldn’t be all that expensive an add. Plus we can easily resign him)

4 Thomas Hertl (Not likely but very good centre who could be a stellar 2C to Larkin)

5 Kuznetsov (I go back and forth on him but if the price was right why not? The guy sure can score.)

RyJo would fit into the category of others I’m intrigued by but I wouldn’t part with anything significant for them. This includes him, Ryan Hartman, Adam Henrique, Ryan Strome, Nicolas Roy, and Dylan Strome.

NSH doesn't really need the cap space. Makes more sense for them to hold onto Johansen for another year or two, then ship him off to a playoff team for something of value - retaining on salary if necessary.

Yeah after the deadline they aren't really in a cap crunch. I just think he would be a nice add.

I wouldn’t mind if we could unload his cap and get a young center like Veleno in.

I know we don’t need space, but I can’t see Ryjo hitting 60pts ever again, at least not with us, and if we retained, it’s still 4m for a guy who’d probably 3C on a playoff team during his contract year.

I’d probably take this and run

I don't see much in Veleno. Bad at faceoffs, and has a finishing touch on par with Cole Smith. NSH already has multiple bottom six centers who I like more than Veleno.

Pettersson would cost waaaay too much and he's not for sale

Lindholm also would cost too much and not for sale although he would be an ideal target for me.

Scheiffele likely not for sale either and still might cost too much.

Hertl not getting traded, full NMC and cost too much.

As long as Ovechkin is there I don't see Kuzy getting traded.

Henrique probably cost more than we would want to pay as they have no reason to trade him. The other guys aren't really that enticing and likely stay put as well.

Could change up the offer as well. I don't see him getting much more than a third I was just trying to replace him with a player that could potentially help Nashville now rather than in 3-6 years when that draft pick possibly develops.
