29 year old Hertl in the first year of his 8x8 contract with full NMC throughout, think you are very rich on that price.

He's a true #1C and his style should age well

He wins FO's, sets up O, plays smart D and is the main reason for EK playing deep in OZ

LTIR last 2 years when cap is 100M+ is fine

So I think your a bit overestimating a couple returns. couture is a good dude but aging and getting paid so retain a bit and he'll get a decent return. I think they'd give karlsson away for nothing if it got the contract gone. Barabanov Is good value. Hertl could get you a boat load if he waives the no trade.

His NTC limits the return, because he has control over his destination, limiting the buyers. You also can't just LTIR someone unless they have an injury.

Think Seabrook situation here

He can't physically play at his expected level and LITRetires

I think you'd retain on either/or for best return but not both bc of Burns

Feel like that’s accurate for labanc. It hinges on the Sabres finding a taker for olofsson, but this is exactly the type of move I’d think they’d make.

Don't think Labanc nets a 2nd unless San Jose retains and it's a deadline type of deal. Nearly 5 million for a player who is essentially a 3rd liner that can get you 10-15 goals isn't that appealing. He doesn't PK, and has seen his playtime drop the past serveral seasons despite the Sharks having a need for scoring up front.

No sense in trading Barabanov or Labanc until the deadline next year. If they have decent years, the price for a team making a push will go up quote a bit. I feel Barabanov could have gotten a huge haul this past deadline based on the fact he'd help with a playoff run AND he'd be locked in for another year with that low AAV. Now for just one year, his return would likely be a bit less.

Karl should be getting more than that for that retention. Maybe another 2nd with conditions that it can become a first, and a decent prospect.

Too much for Hertl, he'd catch a bit less
Too little for Karlsson especially for that retention
everything else is about right, though at some point I'm wondering if they are even tradable. I suspect Couture retires a Shark.
Barb would need to be a late 1st if it's a 1st value
